2024 SEC Football Schedule: Eight conference opponents revealed
Once the SEC decided to go with an eight-game schedule for the 2024 season, commissioner Greg Sankey announced June 14 as the opponent release date. The day has finally arrived, with teams having the opportunity to peer nearly a year into the future.
On Wednesday night, the list of matchups was released on the SEC Network. Texas and Oklahoma are joining the conference, giving the SEC freedom to shape the schedule however they please. Sankey said they were not only looking to preserve rivalries, but also create a balance for every team.
Prior to the show, a few interesting games had been reported on. Alabama hosting Georgia in Tuscaloosa brings college football’s two powers together, as On3 and BOL’s Charlie Potter reported, while Texas A&M will play host to Texas as a rivalry is renewed.
Now, after some speculation, the full list of opponents has been released. Some of the SEC’s best rivalries — including the Iron Bowl, Egg Bowl and Florida-Georgia — have all been preserved. You can check out the full list of home and away opponents for each team here.
