I’m going to use this article and thread as a safe space where Texas baseball isn’t discussed. Here’s a recap of your weekend in sports.

Texas Softball Breaks A Curse

The Longhorns had lost 25 straight games against the Sooners in the state of Oklahoma. But on Saturday, Mike White’s team decided they were done with curses and kicked the damn door down. Kayden Henry’s solo shot gave Texas a late lead and Joley Mitchell provided insurance with a homer of her own. However, the story was about Longhorn pitcher Teagan Kavan. The Texas ace put on a heroic performance in Oklahoma City as she fanned eight Sooner batters, including their final two. Kavan revealed in a postgame interview that her grandmother passed away that morning and her incredible performance was dedicated to her. It was an amazing moment.

Now, Texas is in the driver’s seat due to their place in the winners bracket and will face off against Tennessee today at 12. The Volunteers must beat Texas twice to advance. On the other side of the bracket, it’s the most expensive team in the west, Texas Tech, with the upper hand against Oklahoma.

Rare Air

Scottie Scheffler is breathing rare air right now. The Longhorn golfer joined Tiger Woods as the only player to win consecutive Memorial Tournament titles. Scheffler posted a -10 in Dublin Ohio as he ran away from the rest of the field.  A month after winning The PGA Championship, Scheffler’s dominance continues.

The NBA Finals Are Set

David Stern is spinning in his grave because of the Indiana and Oklahoma NBA Finals. This finals might make the Spurs versus Nets in 2003 look like the finale of Seinfeld from a ratings standpoint. But, the two teams play team basketball and the Pacers precision passing will be an interesting test for the Thunders’ relentless defense. Interesting doesn’t mean effective though and I’m expecting the Thunder to roll as if it’s a Garth Brooks song. OKC in 5.

The Stanley Cup

A nice regional Stanley Cup between Miami and Edmonton, again. Will Connor McDavid and the Oilers get their revenge? And I’ve typed all I know about hockey. That said, Oilers in 7.

Rocky Mountain Low

My almost six year old is obsessed with pro baseball and how horrible the Colorado Rockies are. So much so we check the standings every few days to marvel at their putrid record. A 9-50 start is the worst one in MLB history. That John Denver is full of…

So, what are the worst teams you’ve ever witnessed? I’m going with the 2007 Detroit Lions, the 2012 Charlotte Bobcats and the Kevin Steele Baylor Bears.
