The On3 College Football Top 100 players for the 2023 season were revealed this weekend and there are 10 running backs that stand out among the rest.

Heck, two teams in the Big Ten have two running backs on the list, giving them dominant backfields. Within the top 100 players, 10 running backs could be huge difference makers throughout the 2023 season.

Below are the top 10 running backs within the top 100 players in 2023, including two in the top 20.

Top 10 running backs in On3 College Football Top 100

1. Blake Corum (14) – Michigan

A Heisman Trophy contender. Corum could’ve been a finalist last season if it weren’t for a late-season knee injury. Corum might’ve made a difference in the College Football Playoff semifinal against TCU, but we’ll never know. For now, he’s the best in college football based on last year’s performance.

2. Quinshon Judkins (15) – Ole Miss

In his first season carrying the rock, Judkins was a stud. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry and ran for 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns. That was the first year? You sure? Regardless of Ole Miss’ quarterback competition winner, he’ll be relied upon in Lane Kiffin’s offense to keep the train rolling in the brutal SEC West.

3. Nick Singleton (33) – Penn State

How about his freshman season? Singleton wowed Penn State fans in 2022 and with a potential combination with quarterback Drew Allar, it’ll be a young but talented backfield for the Nittany Lions. Based on this list, Singleton is also the best running back in the Big Ten not named Blake Corum.

4. Raheim Sanders (38) – Arkansas

Sanders, also known as “Rocket,” Broke out in his second season with the Razorbacks. He went from 114 carries for 578 yards in 2021 to 222 carries for 1,443 yards last season. Also 10 touchdowns, so he pretty much doubled his production. What will he do for an encore in 2023? It remains to be seen but he’s dangerous.

5. Jarquez Hunter (56) – Auburn

Hunter didn’t put up gaudy stats, but he certainly has the potential. Now with Hugh Freeze running the show, this could be an opportunity to crack the 1,000 yard mark in 2023. Good luck trying to contain this man out of the backfield whether he’s running or catching the ball.

6. Miyan Williams (71) – Ohio State

Williams emerged as the better back down the stretch due to injuries to teammate TreVeyon Henderson (more on him in a second). Williams can see everything on the field, has great vision and is not afraid to run through defenders. He might be the top of the one-two punch in the Buckeyes’ backfield moving forward.

7. TreVeyon Henderson (72) – Ohio State

Speaking of Henderson, he was ranked right below Williams. When he’s healthy, Henderson is one of the best backs in college football. But that’s the key right now. Like Michigan, Ohio State has a scary one-two punch behind the quarterback.

8. Braelon Allen (73) – Wisconsin

Allen might be a little low for Badgers’ fans. But that’s okay, he’s still one of the best in the country. If Wisconsin is going to get back to the Big Ten championship with new head coach Luke Fickell, Allen is going to be a big part of the offense. In fact, he might be the focus, as he probably should.

9. Trey Benson (78) – Florida State

Benson was electric last season for Florida State. This is a bonafide contender in the ACC and a lot of expert’s dark horse contender for the College Football Playoff. With Jordan Travis under center and Benson in the backfield, watch out.

10. Donovan Edwards (79) – Michigan

Oh yeah, the other Michigan running back. Edwards was always a much anticipated prospect for the Wolverines. But once he was the featured back after Corum’s injury, he truly broke out. Ohio State fans certainly remember. He’s very dangerous but at full strength, Corum gets the highest ranking. But don’t sleep on Edwards in 2023, even if he has to split time.
