Week 10 JP Poll: Top 20 power rankings see major movement after thrilling college football slate
October is in the books for college football, and the first Saturday in November kicks off the final sprint. The Week 9 slate also led to some major movement in this week’s JP Poll as Josh Pate’s power ratings saw a big-time shift ahead of Week 10.
The top of the JP Poll stayed the same, but the Top 5 still had some new faces join. Texas A&M and Ole Miss have moved up, and there’s some separation appearing among SEC teams in the power ratings – remember, they’re not rankings.
Things are heating up as the final few weeks of the college football season approach. Here is the full Week 10 JP Poll, as revealed on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.
1. Ohio State (-)
Staying put at No. 1 in the JP Poll, Ohio State is coming off a bye in Week 9. The Buckeyes will now get ready for their final five games of the year, starting with a matchup against Penn State in Week 10.
Ohio State is in total control of its own destiny as it looks to get to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship. Only one team left on the Buckeyes’ schedule is ranking entering Week 10: Michigan.
2. Indiana (-)

Also holding strong at No. 2 in the JP Poll, Indiana once again got a dominant performance in Week 9. The Hoosiers handled UCLA with ease, flying to a 56-6 victory at Memorial Stadium.
Fernando Mendoza threw for three touchdowns in the effort while the IU running game totaled 262 yards and four touchdowns on the ground to lead the charge. Curt Cignetti’s group will now head to College Park to take on Maryland to kick off November.
3. Texas A&M (+5)
The biggest riser in this week’s JP Poll is now a Top-5 team. Texas A&M went into Death Valley and didn’t leave any room for doubt in a victory over LSU to stay undefeated heading into November.
Marcel Reed was impressive once again, making plays with both his arm and his legs. Texas A&M is on a bye in Week 10 before starting the final sprint in Week 11 with an intriguing matchup against Missouri.
4. Alabama (-)
Also staying put at No. 4, Alabama looked like it would be on upset alert against South Carolina. But the Crimson Tide fought back and capitalized on a late fumble to get a seventh consecutive win in Week 9.
Ty Simpson threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns to lead the charge for the Alabama offense. A bye awaits this week before entering the final straightaway in Week 11 against LSU at home.
5. Ole Miss (+4)

Another new face in the Top 10 of the JP Poll, Ole Miss got a crucial victory last time out against Oklahoma. That game could go a long way toward the Rebels’ hopes of making their first-ever College Football Playoff.
Trinidad Chambliss had a huge performance to lead the charge. He not only threw for 314 yards and a touchdown, but ran for 53 yards on the ground in tough conditions in Norman.
6. Georgia (-1)
Despite a Week 9 bye, Georgia dropped out of the Top 5 of the JP Poll. The Bulldogs are now at No. 6 as they get ready for their World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party game against Florida.
UGA takes a 6-1 record into its final five games of the year, which includes two teams ranked in the latest AP Poll. Florida awaits this week in Jacksonville before a trip to Starkville to take on Mississippi State.

7. Oregon (-4)
Despite a 21-7 win over Wisconsin, Oregon fell four spots in this week’s JP Poll. The Ducks improved to 7-1 on the year heading into this week’s bye.
It was an up-and-down day for the Oregon offense, which got two touchdowns and 102 rush yards from Jordon Davison. After the week off, the Ducks will return to action with a road trip to Iowa in Week 11.
8. Notre Dame (-2)

Notre Dame is down two spots to No. 8 in the JP Poll despite being idle in Week 9. The Fighting Irish are looking to seal a trip to the College Football Playoff in November, starting with this week’s game at Boston College.
Notre Dame has won seven straight since back-to-back losses to Miami and Texas A&M to open the season. Slowly moving up the rankings, the Fighting Irish will look to stick to their winning ways after getting a huge rivalry win over USC ahead of the bye.
9. Miami (-2)
Although Miami got a win over Stanford last time out, the Hurricanes fell to No. 9 in the JP Poll. Another crucial matchup is on tap in Week 10, though, as they head to DFW to take on SMU.
Mark Fletcher Jr. led the Miami offense in the victory last week, rushing for three touchdowns and 106 yards. This week’s matchup will be important for Miami as it looks to stay in the ACC race.
10. Tennessee (+3)
A new team rounds out the Top 10 of the JP Poll. Tennessee is up three spots to the No. 10 spot after last week’s dominant performance against Kentucky.
Joey Aguilar threw for 396 yards and three touchdowns while DeSean Bishop added two rushing touchdowns in an all-around performance from the Vols. Tennessee will now welcome Oklahoma for a big-time game under the lights at Neyland Stadium.
