Following another jam-packed slate of college football, the JP Poll underwent major changes. Josh Pate walked through what The Model is saying ahead of Week 5.

Pate broke down his power ratings – remember, he says they’re not rankings – Tuesday night, featuring plenty of movement. However, the top five stayed the same from Week 4 with Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, Alabama and Penn State staying put.

With conference play getting in full swing across the country, plenty more movement is on the way. Here is the full Week 5 JP Poll, as revealed on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.

1. Ohio State (-)

Out of the bye week, Ohio State is holding strong at No. 1 in the JP Poll. The Buckeyes didn’t leave much room for doubt in the non-conference schedule after starting things off with a marquee Week 1 win over Texas.

Now, Big Ten play is here, starting with Washington on Saturday afternoon. Ohio State will look to ride its 3-0 start into the conference portion of the schedule with Julian Sayin putting together an impressive debut season so far in Columbus.

2. Oregon (-)

Oregon closed out its non-conference schedule in impressive fashion with a rivalry win over Oregon State. That helped the Ducks stay at No. 2 in the JP Poll – but Penn State awaits.

Dante Moore put up his biggest numbers as a Duck, throwing for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the “Civil War” rivalry game. The Penn State game is looking to be one of the best of Week 5 as Oregon heads into a White Out environment in Happy Valley under the lights.

3. Georgia (-)

Coming out of a bye, Georgia faces a monster matchup in Week 5. The Bulldogs will welcome Alabama to Athens, looking to avenge last year’s loss in Tuscaloosa.

UGA got its first SEC win prior to the idle week, taking down Tennessee in overtime in Week 3. With a week to regroup, all eyes are on Alabama as the Bulldogs held strong in the JP Poll.

4. Alabama (-)

Also fresh off a bye week, Alabama had a chance to get ready for its matchup against Georgia. The Crimson Tide will look to replicate a Week 3 performance fueled by quarterback Ty Simpson.

Simpson generated high praise this week from Kirby Smart, who called him the “hottest quarterback in the country” entering Saturday’s game. According to the JP Poll, it’ll be a Top 5 matchup between Alabama and Georgia in one of the most anticipated games of the week.

5. Penn State (-)

Rounding out the top five once again, Penn State is also looking to use an early bye to its advantage. The Nittany Lions have their biggest home game of the season this week as fans prepare for the White Out.

Oregon will make the cross-country trip to Happy Valley for the showdown, which will get the primetime treatment. It will take place in front of the best atmospheres in college football in another Top-5 game, according to the JP Poll.

6. Texas (+5)

Up five spots to No. 6, Texas’ spot in the JP Poll surprised even Josh Pate. He disagreed with The Model’s decision to put the Longhorns so high in the power ratings despite a strong performance last time out.

Arch Manning had his best game as UT’s starting quarterback in Week 4, going 18 of 21 for 309 yards and three touchdowns while adding two rushing touchdowns. Texas flew past Sam Houston State in the effort and will now prepare for its bye week before taking on Florida in Week 6.

7. Miami (-1)

Down a spot from last week, Miami found itself in a close game through three quarters last time out against Florida. However, the Hurricanes got two fourth-quarter touchdowns to eventually create separation in the win over the Gators.

Miami is down to No. 7 in the JP Poll entering Week 5, though Carson Beck continues to shine early. He came in at No. 5 in the On3 Heisman Trophy Poll, though that was before John Mateer suffered an injury.

8. Notre Dame (-1)

Despite a rivalry win against Purdue last time out, Notre Dame dropped a spot to No. 8 in the JP Poll. The Fighting Irish got their first win of the season against the Boilermakers, but questions remain on defense.

Still, the offense looked strong, putting up 56 points in the victory. A test awaits this week as Notre Dame makes the trip to Fayetteville to take on an Arkansas team fresh off a loss at Memphis.

9. Ole Miss (+4)

Breaking into the Top 10 of the JP Poll this week, Ole Miss cruised past Tulane in an intriguing non-conference test. Trinidad Chambliss had a big day in place of Austin Simmons to help lead the charge.

Chambliss, the Ferris State transfer, threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns while adding a team-high 112 rushing yards for Ole Miss. A big-time SEC matchup awaits this week, though, as the Rebels welcome LSU Saturday afternoon.

10. Oklahoma (-2)

Although Oklahoma got a notable win over Auburn last week, the Sooners fell two spots to No. 10 in the JP Poll. However, Josh Pate said that power rating came in before news broke of John Mateer’s hand injury, which will require surgery.

Mateer suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s win, though he still put together a monster day. Michael Hawkins will get the start in his place when OU comes out of the bye, but all eyes are on whether the Washington State transfer will be able to suit up against Texas.

Rest of Week 5 JP Poll

11. Tennessee (-2)
12. Indiana (NR)
13. Texas A&M (-3)
14. Texas Tech (+4)
15. LSU (-3)
16. Florida State (+3)
17. Missouri (-2)
18. USC (-1)
19. Michigan (NR)
20. Vanderbilt (NR)

“Show Me” Saturday is on the horizon with a loaded Week 5 slate on the docket. That means there’s the potential for even more movement in the JP Poll heading into October.
