Week 6 saw no shortage of exciting matchups and big-time performances from around the country. In the fallout, the JP Poll has shifted as a result.

Based on The Model, Josh Pate unveiled his latest Top 20 power ratings – not rankings – which included even more shuffling. The actualy rankings are in Pate’s Commissioner’s Poll

With October in full swing, college football’s best teams are beginning to separate themselves from the pack. That said, here is the full JP Poll, as unveiled on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.

1. Ohio State (-)

Ohio State tops the JP Poll for another week, and the Buckeyes have yet to miss a beast post-national championship. Currently 5-0, No. 1 Ohio State will travel to No. 17 Illinois to take on the Fighting Illini. As of now, that will be the only game Ohio State has left against a ranked team until the Buckeyes take on Michigan in the regular season finale.

The Buckeyes defense has shined — and hasn’t given up more one touchdown in a game this season. 2-0 to start Big Ten play, Ohio State has outscored its conference opponents 66-9 heading into the matchup.

2. Oregon (-)

Oregon’s bye week came at a perfect time for the Ducks. Defeating a then-top three Penn State team on their home turf, Oregon had a full week to recover from that matchup before facing yet another top-10 opponent in Indiana at home.

Consecutive wins against top 10 opponents would cement the Ducks as major players in the national championship race. On paper, the hardest part of their season will be behind them after Saturday.

3. Miami (+6)

Miami is 5-0 with three of its victories coming against ranked opponents. After defeating Florida State on the road during Week 6, they’re the biggest mover in this week’s JP Poll.

QB Carson Beck has been as advertised this season, and the ‘Canes defense has mightily improved from last season. Heading into Week 7, the Hurricanes are the team to beat in the ACC.

4. Alabama (-1)

Alabama’s season-opening loss to Florida State is firmly behind them after Week 6. The Crimson Tide have defeated ranked Georgia and Vanderbilt squads in consecutive matchups.

Things won’t let up for the Crimson Tide anytime soon, either. They’ll take on No. 14 Missouri on the road this weekend before heading home to play No. 12 Tennessee in Tuscaloosa. Both serve as additional opportunities to strengthen their resume.

5. Georgia (-1)

The Bulldogs bounced back from their loss to Alabama in a big way against Kentucky last weekend. Disposing of the Wildcats 35-14, Georgia will turn its attention toward Auburn during Week 7.

However, next weekend’s game against No. 4 Ole Miss is the biggest test the Bulldogs have left on their schedule. It would be the biggest win on the season for Georgia, and would certainly be a topic of discussion

6. Notre Dame (-1)

Notre Dame’s 0-2 start to the season may have been the biggest shock during the first two weeks of the season. Though, the Irish played two teams (Miami, Notre Dame) who, at this point, look like College Football Playoff contenders.

The Fighting Irish have since rattled off three consecutive wins and don’t play another ranked team for the rest of the regular season as it currently stands. This favors Notre Dame, which can finish the regular season with 10 wins if they don’t lose another game.

7. Ole Miss (-1)

Ole Miss has found a star under center in Trinidad Chambliss, who transferred into the program from the Division II ranks. In three starts, he has over 1,000 yards passing and 250 more rushing along with seven total touchdowns.

The Rebels are currently 4-0 and ranked No. 4 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Returning to action from their bye this week, the last time we saw Lane Kiffin’s group was during a 24-19 upset win over LSU.

8. Texas (-)

From the preseason No. 1 overall team to completely unranked, the Longhorns are 3-2 heading into Week 7. Texas most recently lost to Florida in the Swamp, but the Longhorns are still favored in the JP Poll.

That being said, there’s a lot on the line for Texas this weekend against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. The Sooners have mightily improved from last season, and should provide Texas a more competitive matchup than last year’s 34-3 win by the Longhorns.

9. Texas Tech (+4)

Texas Tech has lit up the Big 12 so far this season, and alongside BYU, are one of two undefeated teams left in the Big 12 Conference. The difference between the two programs — the Red Raiders boast the top scoring offense in the conference, averaging 48.6 points per game this season.

They’ll host Kansas this weekend, but many already have Week 8’s matchup against No. 21 Arizona State circled on the calendar. So far, the Red Raiders have put their money where their mouth is this season.

10. Texas A&M (+2)

Texas A&M’s offense has been firing on all cylinders so far this season. It took a couple weeks for the defense to catch up, but the Aggies appear to have settled in on both sides of the football after five games.

Their success has resulted in Texas A&M being ranked No. 5 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, cementing their status as a contender in the SEC under second-year head coach Mike Elko. They’ll host Florida as they look to become bowl eligible this weekend.
