The fourth College Football Playoff rankings come out Tuesday night, but that hasn’t stopped some people from wondering what the old model would look like. That’s what @BCSKnowHow on Twitter did ahead of the next CFP announcement, and it gives an idea of what the BCS model would show.

The BCS used more computer data in its rankings, which ended after 2013 when the CFP came to be in 2014. The CFP, meanwhile, comes down more to the human element than the BCS used to, which is the biggest difference between the two ranking systems.

Here’s how the BCS could have shown the CFP rankings after Week 12.

The top four from last week stayed the same in the BCS projections, while USC jumped up to the No. 5 spot after Tennessee got blown out by South Carolina on the road last week. That game had massive implications on the rankings as multiple teams stay in the conversation for the fourth spot. USC and UCLA squared off in quite the shootout last week, with the Trojans coming out on top 48-45 thanks to another big performance from Caleb Williams.

Tennessee, meanwhile, dropped to No. 9 in the BCS projections after last week’s loss. The Volunteers will also go through the rest of the season — their next game against Vanderbilt and their eventual bowl game — without quarterback Hendon Hooker. He tore his ACL in that game against South Carolina, meaning his college career is over as he prepares to test the NFL Draft waters over the offseason.
