AM Racing acquired by Sigma Performance Services, keeps Ford in NASCAR O'Reilly Series

This morning, it was announced that AM Racing has been acquired by Sigma Performance Services for the upcoming 2026 season. SPS will remain a Ford Racing brand in the ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

No driver announcements yet. However, this was the last shoe to fall for Ford in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series. Sigma Performance Services appears to be the only Ford team in the series going into the 2026 season.

Of course, the SPS team will operate under the newly rebranded Ford Racing banner. A big move for this team and thankfully, an anchor for Ford to hang onto.

This is a rather important acquisition. Haas and RSS Racing have both left the Ford Racing camp. That leaves Sigma Performance Services as the only Ford program in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series.

Sigma has performed well in ARCA and the ARCA West Series. Tyler Reif earned three top-five finishes, including a runner-up at Watkins Glen this season. Greg Biffle raced for this team last year at Tri-County Raceway. Perhaps he will be involved in this project. And if Biffle is involved, it wouldn’t shock me to see Cleetus McFarland close behind.

This is a switch from Chevy to Ford for Sigma Performance. I’m not sure if they ever had manufacturer support or just raced what they could. Now, it is a Ford Racing program with full backing from the manufacturer.

Is Sigma Performance Services the new Ford development team?

One thing that Ford Racing is lacking going into 2026 is any kind of NASCAR driver development pipeline. It appears that with Sigma Performance Services, that is going to change. At least, it will start to change.

As part of this acquisition, Sigma Performance is going to expand on the late model program, which is going to be set up to develop talent. A direct pipeline from late models to ARCA and to the NASCAR O’Reilly Series is just what Ford Racing needs.

“Leveraging Ford Racing’s technical resources, SPS Racing will expand its racing development pipeline, sharpen engineering performance and reinforce he bridge from late-model racing to national series competition,” the team said in a statement. So…CARS Tour, anyone?

“Bringing AM Racing into the SPS Racing family is about building on momentum and unlocking our next level potential,” said Joe Farre, owner, Sigma Performance Services Racing.

“With Ford Racing behind us, we’re investing in people, data and performance to set us up to contend right away in 2026. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
