National Championship Odds: Betting favorites see shakeup after Week 3 of college football

The latest national championship odds from BetMGM are here following Week 3 of the college football season. There are a few teams that are barely separated at the top too!
Three weeks gives us enough to determine who’s really good and who’s a bit further away. Then again, things change on a dime in this sport.
The national championship is still months away but it’s never too early to look at odds. Here are the latest!
Ohio State (+550)
Ohio State is the favorite to win the national championship once again following Week 3 of the season. The defending champs are unbeaten and have one of the best wins of the year, Texas in Week 1.
After a 37-9 win over Ohio, the Buckeyes go to Washington and then host Minnesota the next two weeks. The next ranked game is a top 10 matchup at Illinois on October 11.
Georgia (+600)

Georgia won a thriller over Tennessee and it looks like the Bulldogs are all the way back right? Kirby Smart, Gunner Stockton and an undefeated record!
It’s time to start looking at their chances to win another national championship. They check out to be pretty short odds!
Penn State (+600)
Penn State is also 3-0 and tied in national championship odds with Georgia right now. The Nittany Lions haven’t been challenged yet, but face Oregon in two weeks.
That’ll be the true litmus test for, arguably, James Franklin’s best squad. If they win that game at home, Penn State might be the betting favorite in October.
Texas (+700)
Texas had a lackluster performance against UTEP but got the win. If their national championship odds take a hit, it might be because of QB Arch Manning at this point.
Steve Sarkisian called his QB’s struggles mentally related. If he can turn it around and be nearly as good as he was hyped to be, the Longhorns will vault to betting favorites.
Oregon (+700)

Oregon is rolling right now and Dan Lanning’s goal of a national championship is still alive! After winning the Big Ten but going one and done in the playoff last year, the Ducks want to go on a revenge tour of sorts.
First up is Oregon State before the aforementioned Penn State game. This is definitely one of the best teams in the country through three weeks.
LSU (+1,000)
Brian Kelly had an outburst about his offense and then later apologized to the reporter who asked him the question. Perhaps he conceded the Tigers’ offense is a little limited with Garrett Nussmeier dealing with a torso injury.
Still, this team is 3-0 and has an elite defense right now. If Nussmeier starts clicking, the national championship chances will rise.
Alabama (+1,300)
Is Alabama back? Did we even think we were going to ask that type of question? Well after losing to Florida State Week 1, Alabama is back in the national championship conversation.

Sure, it’s two blowout wins over Lousiana-Monroe and Wisconsin, but this is a totally different team and conversation than two weeks ago. SEC play will determine how far Kalen DeBoer and crew can truly go.
Miami (+1,600)

Miami’s odds are actually a little longer than Alabama, despite the difference in record and resume right now. The Hurricanes look more like a national championship contender this season than last, at least at this stage.
Miami just blasted USF 49-12 to improve to 3-0 as Carson Beck had 340 yards and three touchdowns, despite two picks. Mark Fletcher Jr. had 120 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Texas A&M (+1,800)
The Aggies proved a lot by beating Notre Dame in a thriller. This same team wouldn’t have done that last year.
So now, it’s time to take Texas A&M seriously as a national championship threat at this stage of the season. Now at 3-0, Mike Elko might have this team rolling for a bit.
Oklahoma (+2,000)
Oklahoma was either going to have a standout season or one that would signal the end for Brent Venables. So far, the Sooners are making some magic happen.
National championship? It’s still a bit of a long shot, but Oklahoma is in the top 10 contenders as far as BetMGM is concerned!
