Oklahoma State’s recruiting class took another hit on Wednesday, as three-star linebacker Trey McGlothlin told Rivals he has decommitted from the Cowboys.

The Bixby (Okla.) native had been committed to the Cowboys since March 15, when he chose them over offers from Kansas State, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Boston College and others. McGlothlin is the No. 782 overall prospect and No. 65 linebacker nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

He also ranks as the No. 15 player in Oklahoma.

McGlothlin is the fourth Cowboys commit to back off their pledge since it was announced on Tuesday that head coach Mike Gundy was being fired. Three-star offensive tackle Aiden Martin, who plays at Tulsa Berryhill, told Rivals he was reopening his recruitment on Tuesday evening.

Prior to that, running back Kaydin Jones and receiver Jabarie Thornton both announced their decisions to decommit as well, with other schools already contacting them.

Hits keep coming for the Cowboys

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound McGlothlin was one of the Sooner State’s premier defenders as a junior, finishing with 72 tackles, 8 TFLs, a pair of sacks, and three interceptions (two of which he returned for touchdowns).

With him now out of the class, OSU’s group has just 11 commitments with more attrition expected in the coming days and weeks. In total, seven players have decommitted from the ‘Pokes since June with McGlothlin, Jones, Thornton and Martin joining cornerbacks Jason Bradford and Victor Lincoln, as well as EDGE Jaylen Stewart.

Each of those three prospects decommitted in June, with Bradford flipping to TCU, Lincoln flipping to Arkansas and Stewart flipping to Illinois. The Cowboys’ class now checks in at No. 68 nationally and No. 16 in the Big 12, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

OSU’s 2025 class finished 41st in 2025 and 50th in 2024.
