Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire and his staff hit big again on the recruiting trail Thursday night.

Following a visit to Lubbock over the weekend, Rivals No. 5 ranked 2027 receiver Benny Easter Jr. announced his pledge to the Red Raiders program. He adds to a class already ranked No. 1 nationally.

“Just the way they go about winning fits me perfectly,” Easter said. “And the passing offense.”

As Texas Tech pushes towards a Big 12 Championship and spot in the College Football Playoff, the Red Raiders boast the nation’s No. 8 offensive and No. 4 scoring offense. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Easter sees himself flourishing on Saturday’s playing for this coaching staff.

“They wanna win,” Easter reiterated. “Just shows me what type of a winning program it will be when I get there.”

The Humble (Texas) Summer Creek standout chose Texas Tech over offers from Houston and Kansas among others. Rivals ranks him as the nation’s No. 39 prospect regardless of position.

General Manager James Blanchard was the lead recruiter in courting Easter to the Red Raiders.

“The amount of love they showed so early,” Easter added.

Over the last two seasons Easter has turned 121 receptions into 1,981 yards and 26 touchdowns.
