Phoenix (Ariz.) Desert Edge 2027 cornerback Mikyal Davis has committed to Oklahoma.

The blue-chip defensive back gives his pledge to Brent Venables and the Sooners staff over an offer list that included Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon and USC. Davis went public with his plans during a live broadcast on the Rivals YouTube page.

“They made it feel like home,” Davis said. “The environment and the love they showed me and the vision they had for me as far as developing me on the field are aligned with what I feel are my strengths.”

The 6-foot, 165-pound Davis adds to a recruiting class that Rivals already ranked No. 2 nationally. Davis is the No. 39 cornerback in the country.

Davis is excited to play for Venables.

“His track record at Clemson and the defensive-mind he has combined with the trajectory of the way they’re playing this year,” Davis said. “I see the vision and believe in Coach Venables.”

Beyond Venables and Jay Valai, Davis had a great relationship with Director of Player Personnel Stacey Ford.

“He just connected with that staff and that visit more than some other places,” Desert Edge head coach Henri MacArthur said. “Obviously they’re playing well and they have a defensive-minded head coach and it’s important for Mikyal to go somewhere they’re serious about playing great defense.”

MacArthur loves the fit for his star cornerback as well.

“I think what makes Mikyal really special is his footspeed, short-area burst and quickness which allows him to play press coverage, off coverage, zone coverage, out at corner, nickel and safety. He has everything you need from a movement skill at defensive back.”

As Oklahoma continues its push towards a spot in the College Football Playoff they are making big moves on the recruiting trail. Davis is the latest.
