Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County cornerback Lasiah Jackson is one of the most coveted defensive recruits in the Peach State this cycle and Stanford came across the country to land his commitment.

Frank Reich and the staff in Palo Alto beat Alabama, Florida State and Georgia Tech for the four-star.

“The biggest reason I chose Stanford is the combination of elite academics and top-level football is unmatched,” Jackson told Rivals. “Stanford is a place that truly pushes you on and off the field. Something else that set them apart was the culture there is built around development, both as a person and a player. The people I met on campus, from coaches to students, had a real drive and a purpose too, so that helped them with me.”

Kodi Whitfield was Jackson’s lead recruiter. The head coach was involved as well and the new commit is excited about playing for them both.

“I have the best relationship with coach White. He is head of the safeties and we talk always about so much more than football. We talk ball too. … He’ll show me some plays from practice, but he’s always checking with me and the family first.

“Coach Reich is super genuine. He’s calm, detailed and someone you can trust. You can tell he’s in it for the right reasons. Not to mention we have Andrew Luck on staff, his quarterback for the Colts. They both are building a real culture, helping players grow as men, not just athletes.”

Around 30 schools offered the 6-foot-3, 170-pound defender. Stanford offered back in January and recruited Jackson as hard as anyone since. This commitment is firm and his decision is final.

“I know Stanford is where I am supposed to be,” Jackson said. “The more I thought about the decision, the more it became clearer. The area offers a blend of academic energy, natural beauty and Silicon Valley innovation. It’s so nice out West, the air was nice, the sun wasn’t too hot. Before I moved to Georgia, I lived in Southern California once before, so it is nice.”
