Wake Forest and Clemson won’t play an ACC baseball series against each other in 2026. But they won’t avoid the other completely.

The Deacons and Tigers will play a non-conference game on April 1. It will be played in Charlotte, at Truist Field — the same place where the ACC tournament will be held in May.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to showcase our program on big stages, and Truist Field provides exactly that,” Wake Forest coach Tom Walter said through a news release. “Charlotte has an incredible baseball community, and this matchup against Clemson will be a great experience for our players and fans. It’s going to be a first-class environment, and we can’t wait to see Deacon Nation fill the stands.”

It continues Wake’s growing affinity for playing games in Charlotte, which is about 80 miles from the Winston-Salem campus. Wake’s football program plays Notre Dame in Charlotte in 2027.

“Wake Forest represents Charlotte’s largest ACC academic presence, and we love bringing more big-time Demon Deacons action to the Queen City,” athletics director John Currie said through the same news release. “We’ve had some incredible games with the Tigers over the last several years, and since we don’t play each other in the 2026 regular season, I appreciate the partnership with Clemson Athletics Director Graham Neff to create a big-time matchup fans will love.

“Truist Field is an outstanding venue and the perfect spot to kick off the multi-year Wake Charlotte Series.”

Wake’s full schedule — that being a fluid term — was previously released this week.
