Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker is now a Freshman All-American, according to On3. On Tuesday, the former five-star talent out of IMG Academy in Florida, as well as 22 other first-year players around college football, were honored for their exceptional play this season.

Booker didn’t start any games, but he played a total of 376 snaps while rotating with Javion Cohen and Emil Ekiyor Jr. at both guard spots. The only two games we didn’t see much of him were against Texas and LSU. He only saw one snap combined in those contests. Otherwise, he was constantly in the rotation.

The 6-foot-5, 332-pound freshman was fantastic, too.

Like with most of Alabama’s offensive line this season, there were consistency issues at times as a run blocker, but Booker still managed to show a physical, tone-setting style. His pass protection was near an elite level too. In 11 games, he only allowed five pressures with zero sacks.

Plus, he brings much-needed energy up front.

Here’s the reasoning On3’s Charles Power gave for Booker being a Freshman All-American:

While Tyler Booker was not a starter for Alabama, he saw extended time at both guard spots, regularly rotating in throughout the season. The IMG Academy product played well, particularly in pass protection. Booker allowed zero sacks and just two pressures on 188 pass plays, per Pro Football Focus. The Connecticut native came to Tuscaloosa with extensive experience as a pass blocker. His tackle skills showed up on the interior while playing for the Tide this fall.

Booker figures to a starter for Alabama’s front moving forward. He finished as the No. 14 overall prospect and No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2022 On300.

Unfortunately, no other Alabama players made the cut.

There’s an argument to be made for defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis, who played 264 snaps and started nine of the Crimson Tide’s last 10 games. But Kentucky’s Deone Walker and Michigan’s Mason Graham, the two who made it over Oatis, were certainly deserving as well.

Below, you’ll find the entire list.
