NEW ORLEANS — Alabama kicker Will Reichard has confirmed his intentions to enter the 2023 NFL Draft following the Sugar Bowl. On Tuesday, the senior spoke to the media after the team’s first practice down in New Orleans. During that availability, he was asked about his thought process.

Considering he had already accepted a Senior Bowl invite back on Dec. 10, the assumption has been that he’d forgo his extra season of eligibility to enter the draft. There hadn’t been any official announcement — or at least not until Tuesday.

Reichard took plenty of time to reach his decision.

“I definitely did think about it, coming back or leaving,” he told Charlie Potter of BamaOnline at the Caesars Superdome. “I wasn’t sure for a really long time, and then after talking to my friends and family and some people that I trust, I decided to go ahead and give it a shot.”

Over the last four years, Reichard has brought stability as Alabama’s placekicker. He currently holds the school record for career points with 417. Of his 74 career field goal attempts, he’s converted 61 of them — or 82.4%. That includes 21 of his 25 attempts (84%) this season. Reichard has also made 234 of his 236 extra-point tries (99.2%).

Alabama will miss Reichard’s stabilizing presence, but the position is being left in good hands with incoming freshman Conor Talty. According to the 2023 On3 Consensus rankings, the Chicago (Ill.) St. Rita standout is a three-star prospect, but he’s also the nation’s No. 3 kicker.
