The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to remain active in the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Monday night, Kalen DeBoer’s program made not one, but two additions via the portal.

The first addition was Keon Sabb, a former top-100 high school prospect who played his first two years with the Michigan Wolverines. Sabb saw action in 14 games during Michigan’s national championship campaign, recording 28 total tackles and two interceptions.

Shortly after the official announcement from Sabb, tight end Josh Cuevas posted on social media that he’ll be heading to Alabama for his next collegiate stop.

Cuevas, who stands at 6-foot-3, 239 pounds, spent this past season at Washington. He was previously at Cal Poly for the first two years of his college career. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining with the Crimson Tide.

2023 marked a season of limited production for Cuevas from a receiving standpoint. He was, however, still effective in those opportunities as he caught four passes for 164 yards, an average of 41 yards per reception. Two of his catches went for 57 yards each, and he added a 31-yard touchdown reception as well.

Cuevas did see time in all 15 games of Washington’s run to the national championship and was a key contributor on special teams. He was named the Husky coaches’ special teams player of the week after their win at Oregon State. Cuevas also had a special teams tackle against Texas in the Sugar Bowl.

At Cal Poly, Cuevas earned third-team All-Big Sky honors as a redshirt freshman. In his second season with the Mustangs, Cuevas was second on the team with 57 receptions for 622 yards and six touchdowns.

While now a tight end, Cuevas entered college with a background as a wide receiver. The unranked recruit coming out of high school played both receiver and outside linebacker for Campbell Hall High School in North Hollywood (Calif.). He was named Campbell Hall’s offensive MVP as a junior in 2019, and all-league second-team as a sophomore.

Cuevas is already enrolled at Alabama, and is on scholarship.
