The longest-tenured commitment in Alabama’s 2023 class has officially signed with Nick Saban‘s program.

Jahlil Hurley, who committed to the Crimson Tide on Feb. 22 of this year, just signed his Letter of Intent to play college football for Bama at the next level. Hurley was the second prospect to join the Tide’s 2023 class, with the first — now Penn State pledge Elliot Washington — no longer being a part of this group.

Although Hurley never officially visited elsewhere, the in-state Auburn Tigers made a push for him after his commitment. The program got Hurley on campus for an unofficial visit in the spring, but Hurley eventually stopped answering their texts.

“I feel like Auburn was trying to, but I never texted them back,” Hurley previously told BamaInsider. “They would text me and I’d look at it like, ‘I’m not calling you back.’ It ain’t happening. I already know what you’re trying to talk to me for, but it’s not going [to happen]. I stopped texting everybody a long time ago.”

Hurley entered Wednesday as the only committed cornerback in Alabama’s 2023 class. The program still remains in the hunt for Florida-based prospects Damari Brown and Desmond Ricks, the latter of whom is announcing tomorrow.

Future Alabama CB Jahlil Hurley‘s Signing Profile

Name: Jahlil Hurley

Position: Cornerback

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 180 pounds

High school and hometown: Florence High School/Florence (Ala.)

On3 Consensus Rankings: No. 38 overall/No. 4 cornerback/No. 5 in Alabama

Why Hurley chose Alabama (Full Story HERE): “Alabama does everything at a high level. They are disciplined, they play hard, they practice hard, they have great players, and they just get the job done. Every year, Alabama has a great team and is coached by great coaches, and they do it all at a high level.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power’s analysis of Hurley: “Taller cornerback with high-end coordination and ball skills. Does not have verified measurements, but looks to be well over 6-feet tall with a lean build and length for the position. Primarily played at corner as a sophomore prior to moving around much more as a junior. Advanced as a ball tracker at corner with the ability to turn and locate the ball in coverage. An instinctual defender who sees things quickly. Also lined up at safety, receiver and even took some direct snaps as a junior.”
