The Alabama Crimson Tide have officially signed one of the top defensive linemen in the 2023 class.

During the first day of the Early Signing Period, Missouri-based prospect Edric Hill signed his Letter of Intent to play with Bama at the next level. Hill was one of three d-linemen — the others being Hunter Osborne and Jordan Renaud — to commit to Alabama in a seven-week span from August to September of this year.

Hill is ranked in the 200s overall on every other major recruiting media service besides On3. On On3’s rankings service, Hill is the No. 84 overall prospect in the 2023 class. He also checks in as the No. 10 d-lineman and the second-ranked senior in the state of Missouri.

Prior to committing to Alabama in August, Hill was down to a top six of LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC. He officially visited Bama, LSU, and USC in June, but his time in Tuscaloosa ultimately sold him on the Crimson Tide.

The expectation is that Hill will enroll at Alabama in January.

Future Alabama DL Edric Hill‘s Signing Profile

Name: Edric Hill

Position: Defensive lineman

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 290 pounds

High school and hometown: North High School/Kansas City (Mo.)

On3 Consensus Rankings: No. 173/No. 19 defensive lineman/No. 6 in Missouri

Why Hill chose Alabama (Full Story HERE): “I actually told coach Freddie Roach of my decision at the end of my official visit. I started having that feeling about Alabama when I was on an unofficial visit earlier this year. Being around the people, talking with the coaches, and seeing how they do things make me want to be a part of it.

“They are on a different level. I want to practice against the best. I want to play with the best. Alabama will put me in that position. They develop players, the players go against great players every day, and that is what makes Alabama stand out to me.”

North High head coach, Leon Douglas, on Hill’s skill set (Full Story HERE): “Edric is a big athlete. He played tight end and linebacker for us earlier in his career. He started two games at linebacker. We moved to him to the 5-technique (defensive end) before moving him to the inside.

“I think what really sticks out about Edric is his shear athleticism in that big of a body. He’s a great knee bender and quick-twitchy with speed. He can play a variety of different techniques. He has a high motor, and he will run to the ball. It’s something that we preach. He’s very coachable; you can give him content and direction. He’s gonna listen.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power’s analysis of Hill (Full Story HERE): “Very disruptive. You could see the physical tools are certainly there. He’s a disruptive presence in the interior. He’s not a guy who is going to sit there and eat blocks. I think he is one who can really create a lot of disruption in the interior. There’s a lot of value in that in creating a pass rush up the middle.”
