Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama did the Texas Two Step back in September. In the span of three days from Sept. 19-21, the Crimson Tide earned commitments from Lone Star State recruits Jalen Hale and Jordan Renaud.

On Wednesday, Renaud was able to make things official with Bama for the first day of the Early Signing Period. After signing with the program, the four-star prospect will participate in the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando (Fla.) next month before enrolling in January.

A prediction for Alabama was first submitted in April, but the Oklahoma Sooners tried their best to land Renaud. Brent Venables‘ staff got Renaud on campus for an official visit from Sept. 9-11 and landed in his top two ahead of his commitment on Sept. 19; in the end, however, Bama’s history of winning championships and player development, as well as their culture, led to them coming out on top.

Renaud is listed as an EDGE on his On3 profile, but will play along the defensive line at the next level.

Future Alabama defensive lineman Jordan Renaud‘s Signing Profile

Name: Jordan Renaud

Position: Defensive Line

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3.5, 245 pounds

High school and hometown: Tyler Legacy in Tyler (Tx.)

On3 Consensus Rankings: No. 66 overall/No. 8 EDGE/No. 12 in Texas

Why Renaud chose Alabama (Full Story HERE): “Bama said what they said and they make you make a decision. Alabama sells itself, so there’s not much you can say about someone you’ve been watching for 10 years. It’s history. If you flip through the last five, 10 years of national championships, who do you see consistently.”

Tyler Legacy head coach, Joe Willis, on Renaud’s skill set (Full Story HERE): “He’s very twitchy. He’s got a great twitch to him. For a big guy to be able to explode in the way that he does. Has very violent hands. His movement is very quick and sudden. That’s what makes him a good pass rusher and also makes him good in the run game. He beats blockers to the punch. That’s definitely true at our level. I think he’ll just continue to get better as he moves on to the next level.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power’s analysis of Renaud (Full Story HERE): “He’s a dominant run defender. I think he’s continuing to progress as a pass rusher. Early on in his career, he’s more advanced as a run defender. The thing I’m interested to watch is how he continues to progress as a pass rusher. Adding moves. He’s more of a straight-line power player right now. But I think the athleticism, hand strength, and movement skills are there for him to be a productive pass rusher as he continues to develop technically.”
