One of the nation’s top international prospects in the Class of 2023 is officially heading to Alabama at the next level.

Moments ago, offensive lineman Olaus Alinen signed his Letter of Intent to play football at Bama at the next level. Since Alinen is a native of Finland and is currently back home, he was able to sign on Tuesday night Central Standard Time as he is eight hours ahead.

Alinen remained solid in his pledge to the Crimson Tide ever since he committed on July 22, 2022. His recruitment was a close one down the home stretch, with the Miami Hurricanes appearing to be — at one time — the leader for his services. Bama ultimately came out on top, with Alinen embracing the phrase “Rings Over Lambos” the rest of the 2023 cycle.

Nick Saban‘s staff isn’t done just yet recruiting at Alinen’s school, The Loomis Chaffee School. The program is recruiting four-star defensive targets — and twin brothers — Jacob Smith and Jerod Smith. Both are high on Alabama, and may end up taking official visits to Tuscaloosa next year.

Alinen is one of a dozen-plus players from Bama’s 2023 class who will enroll early in January.

Future Alabama OL Olaus Alinen‘s Signing Profile

Name: Olaus Alinen

Position: Offensive line

Height/Weight: 6-foot-5.5, 325 pounds

High school and hometown: The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor (Conn.)

On3 Consensus Rankings: No. 196 overall/No. 15 offensive tackle/No. 1 in Connecticut

Why Alinen chose Alabama (Full Story HERE): “I always thought in my mind that it would be great to go to a school like Alabama and play for a coach like Coach Saban. Alabama is the greatest college football program ever and Coach Saban is the best college football coach ever. Alabama has everything you need.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power’s analysis of Alinen (Full Story HERE): “In terms of what he brings, it’s the physicality and the run blocking element. He moves fairly well, too, at his size. He’s probably not a pure top athlete at the position, but his movement skills are more than adequate. The positional versatility is another thing he offers. We’ll have to see how he progresses with the pass protection in terms of projecting his position and the ultimate ceiling.”
