For a long time, Justice Haynes appeared to be Georgia-bound.

The Peach State native not only lives roughly an hour away from Athens, but is also the son of former Bulldog Verron Haynes. Prior to his commitment in July, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gave UGA a 95.5 percent chance of landing Haynes.

On July 17, however, Haynes shocked the world by choosing the Alabama Crimson Tide. Interestingly enough, it was Ohio State — not Georgia — that finished second in his recruitment.

Haynes was a highly sought-after recruit, and for good reason. The newly minted five-star prospect rushed for 7,758 yards on nearly 10 yards a carry in his high school career. He also had 95 rushing touchdowns in 48 games, and is fourth all-time in rushing in the state of Georgia.

Haynes is gearing up to get an early start to his collegiate career as he is arriving on campus on Wednesday and will officially enroll at Alabama in January.

Future Alabama RB Justice Haynes‘ Signing Profile

Name: Justice Haynes

Position: Running Back

Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 193 pounds

High school and hometown: Haynes transferred to Buford High School as a senior, but his hometown is Roswell (Ga.)

On3 Consensus Rankings: No. 31 overall/No. 2 running back/No. 2 in Georgia

Why Haynes chose Alabama (Full Story HERE):“ The culture around Alabama made a difference to me. The way they work, how they compete, and the people there made a big impact on me and my decision. It is a place I fit in, a place I will get developed on and off the field, and the place I know will hold me accountable at the end of the day. The total package of what Alabama is about made it the best place for me.”

Buford head coach, Bryant Appling, on Haynes’ skill set (Full Story HERE): “Power. He’s a really strong kid for his stature. Between his footwork and his quickness and his vision and his top-end speed, he’s the total package. He can do it all. He’s got soft hands when he catches the ball out of the backfield. He’s really coming on in pass protection. That’s stuff he’s going to have to do at Alabama.”

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power’s analysis of Justice Haynes (Full Story HERE): “A lot of what he does translates to being an every down back in college and potentially the NFL. He has very good contact balance. He’s tough to bring down. Well-built. He’s got a strong base. Muscular build. Pretty physically developed. The contact balance, the ability to run through arm tackles. He’s got good vision. He’s obviously been well-coached and his dad was an NFL running back/fullback.

“There’s not a ton of discernable weaknesses in his game. He tested pretty well in terms of in the combine setting. I think he’s a pretty good athlete, even though he doesn’t have crazy speed numbers. I think he’s just a very productive, all-around back who can do a lot of different things.”
