Alabama’s football team responded to last week’s nail-biting loss in Knoxville with a lockdown defensive performance on Saturday. After allowing 52 points to Tennessee the weekend prior, the Crimson Tide gave up just six points (coming in the last few seconds of the game) versus Mississippi State yesterday.

While it was not as jam-packed as the Texas A&M game, last night’s contest featured some of the top recruits in the 2023 and 2024 classes. In attendance were a trio of five-star 2023 prospects, junior targets Julian Sayin and Sterling Dixon, and more.

BamaInsider gathered reactions from Dixon, Sayin, and multiple Alabama commitments following Bama’s win over the Bulldogs.

Top 2024 targets, multiple commits share thoughts on Alabama’s win

Starting with Sayin, the Crimson Tide would love to have add another California-based quarterback to their roster. Sayin, who hails from Carlsbad (Calif.), is the second-ranked signal caller on the 2024 On3 Consensus.

Sayin told us that he enjoyed his second trip to Tuscaloosa of the year.

“Yeah, it was great,” Sayin said of his experience. “Awesome atmosphere and they were lights out against Mississippi St.”

Switching over to Dixon, this was an important visit for the product of Mobile (Ala.) Christian School. Dixon is gearing up to announce his commitment on Dec. 1, with Alabama being one of his top contenders.

Like Sayin, the environment in Bryant-Denny Stadium was a highlight for Dixon as well.

“It was great,” Dixon said. “I loved the atmosphere and got to connect with the coaches much more. “They just told me how valuable I was to a team like them. They showed me how they used their inside and outside backers.”

There were nearly a dozen Alabama commitments in attendance for last night’s game, one of them being Dylan Lonergan. The top-10 quarterback in the 2023 class spent time not only with Nick Saban, but legendary signal caller Joe Namath as well.

“Defense played great!” Lonergan said of Alabama’s win over Mississippi State. “Glad to get back on track.”

As has been the case all season, in-state defensive lineman pledge Hunter Osborne attended Saturday’s game. Osborne praised the Crimson Tide defense for how they responded against the Bulldogs.

“It was a great bounce-back win,” Osborne said. “Defense looked very strong and now we just have to continue to look like our normal selves.”
