Saturday afternoon featured what some would regard as the game of the 2022 college football season thus far. No. 3 Alabama and No. 6 Tennessee traded barbs in a highly anticipated matchup that more than lived up to its billing.

In the end, the Volunteers’ high-powered offense got them 45 yards down the field in just two plays to set up a game-winning field goal. Their 52-49 home victory over the Crimson Tide was witnessed by a number of recruits both in Neyland Stadium and across the country.

Elite 2024 QB reacts to Alabama’s win over Tennessee

Not surprisingly, multiple Crimson Tide pledges in the 2023 class took to social media right after the game ended. Top-three cornerback Jahlil Hurley and four-star safety Bray Hubbard sent out tweets supporting their future team last night.

BamaInsider Director of Recruiting Andrew Bone also gathered reactions from several other commitments right after the game ended.

One of those reactions was from 2025 wide receiver pledge Ryan Williams, who was not even born the last time that Tennessee beat Alabama on Oct. 21, 2006. Williams, the No. 19 overall player in his class, broke down what he saw on Saturday.

“The first half was very rough for us and we still managed to be in the game by the end,” Williams said. “We had 17 penalties that were self-inflicted. For all that to happen and only lose by three [against] another good SEC team I can’t be mad at that, but a game to watch for sure! ROLL TIDE!”

We also heard from elite 2024 quarterback Julian Sayin about his thoughts on the Tide’s performance. Sayin, who will visit Alabama for their game against Mississippi State this Saturday, had high praise for Bryce Young.

“Yeah, really exciting game to watch and I thought Bryce played really well,” Sayin said. “Tough way to end but really liked what I saw from QB play and the run game working, too.”
