The Alabama Crimson Tide have landed yet another defensive player via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

After landing Texas A&M transfer defensive lineman LT Overton last Tuesday, Bama earned a commitment from another target the following week. On Thursday, USC cornerback transfer Domani Jackson announced his commitment to Alabama.

Jackson chose the Crimson Tide without visiting the school since entering the transfer portal exactly one week ago. He did, however, attend their Thursday practice in Pasadena (Calif.) ahead of next week’s Rose Bowl.

The Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei product committed to Bama over Michigan, another program reportedly in the mix for his services.

Thursday marked a full-circle moment for Jackson and Nick Saban‘s program.

When targeting Jackson out of high school, Alabama came close to landing his commitment. Jackson decommitted from USC late in his recruiting process, shortly after an official visit with the Crimson Tide in November. Bama had momentum in their pursuit of Jackson; in the end, Jackson wound up recommitting to and signing with the nearby Trojans during the Early Signing Period.

Position coach Donte Williams, who is now at Georgia, being retained was a key reason why Jackson signed with USC.

In Domani Jackson, Nick Saban‘s program is getting one of the top players in the NCAA Transfer Portal, regardless of position. According to the 2024 College Football Transfer Portal Top Players on On3, Jackson is the No. 35 overall player to have entered the portal. He’s also the No. 5 cornerback in the portal.

Jackson started all 11 games that he played in for USC this fall. He was targeted 31 times in coverage, allowing 20 receptions for 411 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson recorded 33 total tackles and three pass breakups. He had 2 tackles in seven games as a true freshman in 2022.

At the prep level, Jackson was the No. 5 overall prospect on the 2022 On3 Industry Rankings. He was also tabbed as the top-ranked cornerback in his class, as well as the No. 1 player in the state of California.
