Four-star cornerback Jalewis Solomon has committed to Auburn football.

Solomon, who is from Schley County in Ellaville, Ga., announced his decision Saturday on social media. He chose the Tigers over South Carolina and Florida State, among others.

Solomon’s decision comes one week after a visit to Auburn for the Tigers’ Big Cat recruiting event.

“I would love to play for Coach Freeze,” Solomon said. “Like why not? He kind of made the point when I was talking to him, when he beat Bama in 2012, it’s like man, that is different. He was saying whenever I get here that he was going to make me a big impact for this team. I feel wanted here.

“(Freeze is a) real laid back guy. Real cool guy. All about winning. And he’s for all of his players. He even told me, he’ll do whatever it takes to put his players in the right potion, so I really like that.”

McGriff played big role in Solomon’s decision

Freeze was instrumental in Solomon’s decision, absolutely, but so was cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff.

“Man, Coach Crime (McGriff) is electric,” Solomon said. “He always make sure I have a good time and he shows me love here. He makes me feel like an Auburn DB right now.”

Solomon, who is six-feet tall and 185 pounds, is ranked the No. 11 athlete in the country by the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks the No. 269 overall recruit in the class and No. 31 in Georgia.

Solomon is the Tigers’ 15th commitment in the ’24 class.

Solomon currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $51K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Commitment Breakdown: What Auburn is getting in 4-star DB Jalewis Solomon

From Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston…

When it looked that Saturday may be a let down for Auburn after a huge Big Cat Weekend, the Tigers came through. Auburn has landed 4-star athlete Jalewis Solomon from Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County.

The Tigers like Solomon on defense while many others like him on the offensive side of the ball. Bottom line: Solomon is a playmaker. Where he fits is not important yet.

Here is everything you need to know about Auburn’s newest defensive back.

The Solomon File

— Solomon, who is listed at 6-0 185, is probably bigger than that at this point. He

— As a receiver, he is best after the catch. He can advance the ball and make people miss. He is also a tough and physical player to bring down as a ball carrier.

— As a safety, Solomon is an extremely physical tackler. He’s also physical in playing man coverage. He lacks long speed at times, but plays great in short area burst situations.
