Top 5 'Wants' For Auburn 2025 Recruiting Class

Four-star offensive tackle Tavaris Dice has committed to Auburn.

Dice, who attends Langston Hughes in Fairburn, Ga., announced his decision Thursday on social media. He chose Auburn over offers from several top schools, including Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Miami, Texas A&M and Missouri, among others.

Dice’s commitment comes after an unofficial visit to Auburn on Thursday. It was Dice’s seventh known visit to Auburn since September.

Auburn offensive line coach Jake Thornton played a major role in Dice’s decision.

“I can really tell he is a really good coach,” Dice said. “By the way he speaks to me and by the way I saw his O-line perform. They really get movement and the way their technique is I can tell they are getting coached well.

“I really like him a lott. By the way his o-line is developing, plus, they have an old o-line, so coming in with my class that would be really big for me.”

Dice is the eighth commitment in the Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class and second offensive lineman. Spencer Dowland, a three-star lineman from Athens, Ala., committed to Auburn in September.

Dice, who is listed at 6-foot-6 and and 275 pounds, is ranked the No. 290 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. He also ranks the No. 21 offensive tackle in the country and No. 33 recruit in Georgia.

Two strengths

— Dice is more polished in his pass set than most on the high school level. He plays with good pad level as a run blocker, and would not fit the usual description of “raw.” He seems to understand what he’s doing at this stage.

— Dice is strong and powerful while playing with a high level of violence. He can drive defenders off of the ball and motor down enough to execute a combo. He has excellent upside as an offensive lineman and probably could be versatile.

One area for improvement

— If he plays tackle on the next level, he will have to learn to play on an island. Balance is probably going to be the biggest learning curve as he is used to leaning on defenders and driving them. He will have to learn how to pass set consistently while taking on edge rushers.
