No. 1 WR in 2026 visits Auburn

Douglas County (Ga.) wide receiver Aaron Gregory, a future five-star recruit in the 2026 class, visited Auburn on Thursday.

Gregory, who is ranked the No. 1 wide receiver in ’26 and No. 7 overall recruit, had attended a game inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, but hadn’t experienced a true campus visit.

Until Thursday.

“It was good,” he said. “I liked the atmosphere of the place. I didn’t really talk to any coaches when I first came, but now it’s different. We went around, got to sit in some meetings, talk to coaches one-on-one. Got to get a relationship with Coach (Marcus) Davis, definitely.”

Gregory and Davis have begun building a bond.

“Love him, great energy guy, high energy,” he said. “He wanted to be his best, so that’s real good. He put his best foot forward.”

Gregory also spoke with Auburn coach Hugh Freeze.

“Same thing, high energy guy and puts his best foot forward,” he said. “I feel like that is a priority. In order to have me to come somewhere, I want to definitely have a bond with the coach, so I feel like it’s definitely important.”

Auburn will be factor in Gregory’s recruitment

Auburn practiced Thursday afternoon and Gregory was there to see it. He kept a close eye on Davis and the wide receivers.

“Caleb Burton, I really liked him,” he said. “(And Coach Davis), the way he just teaches. He’s out there, sometimes they’ll mess up, but the way he makes them learn is real good. That’s important for him.”

Gregory attended a team meeting and was able to be around several players.

“It’s crazy, the brotherhood in there is different,” he said. “The whole bond that they have and the vibe that they have while they’re just learning, just learning the plays is different, which I really like.”

Gregory plans to return to Auburn before making a decision. He also plans to visit Tennessee on march 27 and Colorado on March 19. He does not plan to rush a commitment.

“I think I’m still just gonna let it ride out,” he said.

Auburn, however, will be a factor.

“The bond that I have with the coaches,” he said. “The bond I have with them is great.”

Gregory is listed at 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds. In addition to being the No. 7 overall recruit in the country, he also ranks the No. 1 recruit in the state of Georgia.
