Florida, Florida State, & Georgia State are the Top Schools for OL Peyton Joseph | Time to Decide

Four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph of Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County will reveal his commitment decision Sunday. And many view the Florida Gators as the team to beat.

“Florida is Florida,” Joseph said Friday on The Five-Star Flex with Phillip Dukes. “Somewhere you want to be. You can call it home. The coaching staff is very loving. It’s somewhere I could fit in. … A lot of people are like, ‘I don’t know about Florida.’ But Florida could be somewhere you can call it home.”

Florida State and Georgia Tech are two other schools prominent in Jospeh’s recruitment. His cousin, Terrence Ferguson, is an offensive lineman for the Seminoles. Meanwhile, the idea of staying in-state intrigues Joseph.

“Florida State has been a huge contender since my freshman year,” Joseph said.

At Houston County, Joseph is teammates with 4-star Gators quarterback target Antwann Hill. Florida is a top contender for him, too. But it’s no sure thing they’ll play at the same college.

“Twann does his, I do mine,” Joseph said. “Me and him are both sharing schools. He got Florida. I got Florida. Florida State — he got. We’re both sharing the same schools. But it ain’t like, ‘Oh, we just planning to go to the same school.’ If it happened it would be a dream come true. I mean, I’d love to play with my boy after high school but hey, we’ve all got our own footsteps — take our own path.”

The 411 on this recruitment …

-Earlier this year, On3’s Chad Simmons wrote the following: “(Florida Gators assistant) Rob Sale is the lead recruiter for Joseph, and the offensive line coach was back at Houston County earlier this week. The two are in communication consistently and Florida has some buzz around it for one of the top juniors in the Peach State.”

-The Gators got Joseph’s last campus visit leading up to his announcement. It came the first weekend in February, just days before the next dead period begins Monday. While this isn’t always significant, we think in this case it was. Joseph said this about the visit: “It went great. The coaching staff is great, the culture is great, the players are great — everything about this team is great.”
