Florida continues to make a good impression with On3 4-star tight end Micah Jones of Madison Central (Miss.) and because of it the Gators will land future visits — and one of them probably will be an official.

Saturday, Jones was in Gainesville for junior day. It was his second trip there, with the first coming last season for the Florida-Tennessee game.

“I love Florida,” Jones told Gators Online. “It’s a very good vibe around here. I liked the visit today. I got more of a family like visit today, more behind the scenes.”

Jones, listed at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, is the No. 18 tight end in the country for On3. Tight ends coach Russ Callaway is his primary Gators recruiter.

“Contact weekly,” Jones said. “Our relationship has definitely built up since the first time we met. We’ve just got a good relationship.”

According to Jones, he knows a Mississippi product who signed with the Gators in the 2024 class. That’s 4-star running back Kahnen Daniels.

“He told me Florida is the place to be,” Jones said. “Got all the good vibes. Everything is really here that you need at Florida.”

UF is a top contender for Micah Jones.

Jones said he has no official leaders yet. But so far, Florida continues to push all the right buttons with him.

“Florida is definitely near the top of my list,” Jones said. “Florida is definitely in the mix. Decision maybe the beginning of the next school year.”

The best part about the Gators?

“I’d say their tradition,” Jones said.

Additionally, Jones thinks tight end is a strong position in the Florida program.

“I like the tight end room,” Jones said. “They’ve got a lot of good guys. Guys coming back from injury and I know they have one 2024 (signee). I think they have a good set of guys. They use the tight end 100 percent of the time and they like to use two tight ends at the same time.”

For Jones, an official visit to Florida would come this summer. But he added it’s possible he could return to watch spring practice before then.
