ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia’s running back room stays in the news with today’s report from practice as Daijun Edwards was seen working to the side with a group of injured players. The senior ball carrier had a brace on his right knee but was running. Reports are that he is dealing with an MCL sprain.

Kendall Milton was also with the group of players making their way back from injury as he continues to nurse a hamstring that’s been bothering him in the preseason. Milton, who was in a black non-contact jersey (seemingly an upgrade from being a non-participant in previous practices while wearing the red offensive jersey), had a previous hamstring injury to ended his spring early and has been injury prone over the course of his career.

With Edwards and Milton, the two most proven ball carriers on Georgia’s roster, working to the side and the news of Branson Robinson’s season-ending knee injury, Dell McGee’s group consisted of just two scholarship players on Wednesday – Andrew Paul and Roderick Robinson – plus a couple of walk-ons including Cash Jones and Sevaughn Clark that could be called upon if necessary early in the season until Edwards and/or Milton are available.

Other players are were not seen during the 15 minutes of media early in practice viewing included wide receiver Ladd McConkey (undisclosed), safety David Daniel-Sisavanh (undisclosed), cornerback Chris Peal (turf toe) and wide receiver DeNylon Morrissette (groin). Meanwhile, the group working to the side also included STAR Joenel Aguero (hamstring) in running shoes, wide receiver Cole Speer (undisclosed) and walk-ons offensive lineman Chris Brown and wide receiver Logan Johnson.

Linebacker Smael Mondon was on the positive side of the injury update. Back working with the linebackers in a black jersey, last year’s leading tackler continues to make his way back from a foot injury that ended his spring. Earlier in the preseason, Mondon was with the group of injured players working to the side.

Cornerback Kamari Lassiter continues to wear his black jersey while working with the cornerbacks. Lassiter was a partial participant in Saturday’s scrimmage according to Kirby Smart after the fact. Offensive linemen Earnest Greene and Xavier Truss who both turned ankles in the scrimmage Saturday were out there as well without any sort of limitations. Smart, asked specifically about Greene on Wednesday, said that he took about 50% of his normal number of reps in practice yesterday battling the ankle sprain.

Georgia is ten days away from the start of its 2023 season against UT-Martin. The Bulldogs are the No. 1 team in both the AP and Coaches polls in the preseason and are considered to be the odds on favorite to take home a third straight title according to Vegas.
