We’re less than a month away from the start of fall camp for Georgia, and what better time to take a look at the most important players for the Bulldogs in 2023?

Important can have different definitions. Some players’ importance for this season is based on their past performance and ability to repeat that this fall. For others, it’s about their potential and what living up to it would mean for Georgia and its chances at winning a third straight National Championship.
We continue the countdown from 23 to 1 today now inside the top-20 with No. 17 on our list, wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint.

Georgia has plenty of options at wide receiver. Add in tight end Brock Bowers, and the Bulldogs easily have one of the best groups of pass catchers in the country. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint is the most veteran of those, and important to Georgia’s success this season because of it.

Rosemy-Jacksaint finished top five on the team in receiving last year. It was a breakout campaign for the Pompano Beach, Fla. native who had previously seen the field primarily for his ability as a blocker. Hauling in 29 passes for 337 yards, Rosemy-Jacksaint found the end zone twice. The first of those came against Tennessee, then the No. 1-ranked team in the country. It was his first score since a devastating injury during his freshman season, a setback that hindered his progress as a player.

Back to full health, it’s easy to see why Rosemy-Jacksaint is getting those kind of chances to haul in passes. He earns his way onto the field as an elite blocker on the outside. As a result, he’s out there and able to get opportunities to get open for his quarterbacks, consistently doing so and bringing in the ball with his big bodied frame that makes him hard to cover.

As said before, the Bulldogs have the receivers this fall. Bowers and Ladd McConkey were both top five receivers last year too. Arian Smith, who we mentioned on Sunday, and Dillon Bell have untapped potential. Then there’s the newcomers with transfers Dominic Lovett and Rara Thomas. However, Rosemy-Jacksaint is without a doubt going to be there and be a force to be reckoned with for Georgia on the outside as one of the team’s most important players this season.

Know the Quote

“He’s done a great job. He’s one of the most competitive, best guys that works really hard,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said about Rosemy-Jacksaint after a touchdown catch against Tennessee. “He does a great job every day for us. I know that was rewarding for him. It was a hell of a throw and a catch. I’m really proud of everything he’s done from a leadership standpoint for our team.”

“Marcus has been a huge factor since he got here,” fellow receiver Ladd McConkey added. “Obviously getting hurt his freshman year and then being able to get back in the end zone this week, that was awesome. He works so hard every single day, every week, so for him to be able to get in the end zone and to see how much joy it brought to him it shows how much the hard work is paying off. For him to be able to do that, there’s not a guy that’s more deserving than him I feel like.”
