Georgia Football: Dawgs in the NFL (Week 11)

Sure, it was a great weekend for Georgia following a big win on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats. However, the Bulldogs’ weekend was not done there, as several former players continued to show out for their current NFL teams yesterday. With plenty of familiar faces and a ton of rookies showing out, this past weekend was great for Dawgs everywhere.

Leonard Floyd

The veteran edge rusher has not had the season that many had expected him to have, but Floyd’s performance against the New Orleans Saints went a long way in silencing a lot of his critics. Floyd finished the game with five total tackles, three solo tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks, including this big play at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Nick Chubb

Nick Chubb’s weekend got kicked off on the first play of the game when the running back took this pass downfield for a big gain for the Browns. Despite his hot start, the Buffalo Bills defense suffocated Chubb and the Cleveland offense throughout the game, holding him to just 19 rushing yards on 14 carries.

D’Andre Swift

After missing a large part of the season due to injury, Swift has had to fight to get his rushing volume back from Jamaal Williams. However, that did not keep the former Dawg from finding the end zone on this four-yard run against Tae Crowder and the New York Giants.

James Cook

In what many NFL fans are calling his “coming-out party”, rookie running back James Cook ran all over the Cleveland Browns defense yesterday, finishing with 86 rushing yards on only 11 carries. While Cook remains in a crowded backfield among names like Devin Singletary and Nyheim Hines, the former Georgia running back continues to impress fans around the country.

Quay Walker

Walker’s Thursday Night Football performance against the Tennessee Titans sent a message throughout the league, as the rookie linebacker put up 11 total tackles, seven solo tackles, 0.5 sacks, and this tackle for loss against former Alabama running back Derrick Henry. Walker’s season may have gotten off to a rough start, but the former Bulldog has come a long way since August.

George Pickens

It’s really not even surprising at this point. Former Georgia wide receiver George Pickens continues to play a huge role in the Pittsburgh Steelers offense, taking in this 24-yard touchdown reception to tie it up against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Pickens was not done yet, snagging this ridiculous catch against Eli Apple down the field on third down. With 44 seconds left, Pickens was ejected from the game following an unnecessary roughness penalty on the Steelers’ onside kick attempt.

Other stats:

Matthew Stafford (LAR): 11 for 18, 159 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 sack, 1 rush, 4 yards

Lawrence Cager (NYG): 3 targets, 2 catches, 20 yards

Lorenzo Carter (ATL): 5 total tackles, 4 solo tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack

Justin Houston (BAL): 2 total tackles, 0.5 sacks
