Georgia Football: Dawgs in the NFL (Week 9)

by:Jack Mathison11/07/22

With the Giants, Browns, and Steelers all on their bye weeks, a lot of Georgia’s most productive and explosive players in the NFL all sat out for this week’s slate of game; however, that did not stop the Bulldogs in the National Football League from making their presence felt, through impressive throws, kicks, catches, and lockdown performances.

Jake Camarda

The rookie punter made his presence felt earlier in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ big win over the Los Angeles Rams, booming this 68-yard punt inside of the Rams’ 10-yard line.

Camarda’s day wasn’t done yet, launching this third quarter punt 74 yards, going out of bounds at the Rams 11-yard line.

Turns out, Camarda’s performance against the Rams today not only earned him a spot in this “Bulldogs in the NFL” piece, but it earned him a stop in the Bucs’ record books.

Tyson Campbell

In a game where Campbell would be forced to shadow one of the NFL’s best players in Davante Adams, the former Georgia cornerback got off to a rough start, allowing two touchdowns in just the first half, including this first quarter score.

Unfortunately for Adams, Campbell took that personally, holding the All-Pro receiver to just one reception for zero yards in the entirety of the second half, playing a big role in the Jaguars’ win.

After the game, Campbell addressed what was going through his mind at halftime that led to such a big turnaround.

James Cook

Each week, rookie James Cook earns a larger role in the Buffalo Bills’ offense, both as a runner and receiver. While the Bills’ weren’t able to come away with the win, Cook’s designed third-down grab displayed an abundance of the coaching staff’s trust in the running back. Cook finished the day with four carries for 15 yards, including four targets for two catches and 18 yards

Mecole Hardman

Former Georgia receiver Mecole Hardman got things going early in the Kansas City Chiefs’ primetime matchup against the Tennessee Titans, pulling in this reception and cutting into the endzone on the first play of the second quarter.

Matthew Stafford

Although Stafford did not have the day that he needed to in order to secure a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the veteran quarterback showed a ton of discipline pulling in the snap and hitting wide receiver Cooper Kupp in the seam for a 69-yard touchdown. Stafford finished the day going 13 for 27 for 164 yards and one touchdown.
