Ready for some Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate? It won’t be long before No. 1 Georgia hosts Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs have a chance to finish the regular season undefeated for the second time in as many seasons. The Yellow Jackets would love to dole out some heartbreak.

As is the case every week, DawgsHQ is looking at it from as many angles as possible. Below, we take what amounts to a quick look at how this game should play out based on who has the edge.

When Georgia runs it…

Georgia Tech’s run defense is susceptible. With that said, don’t expect UGA to just run right through it. The Yellow Jackets are going to crowd the box and try to beat the Bulldog rushing attack with numbers. We’ve also seen enough of UGA at this point to know that it will be stubborn on early downs and force the Yellow Jackets to tackle with that extra man up near the line of scrimmage. Georgia has the size advantage and should wear down its in-state rivalry. Edge: Georgia

When Tech runs it…

The Bulldogs have one of the best run defenses in the country. Tech has an average to below average rushing attack. Even teams that are great at running the football struggle to do so against Georgia. Edge: UGA

When Georgia throws it…

The Bulldogs are throwing the ball really well this season. It has one of the nation’s most efficient and consistent passing attacks. The weather should be good and it’ll be Stetson Bennett’s final game inside Sanford Stadium. It wouldn’t shock us to see the staff try to send him off with a bang. He’ll be up against a secondary that allows seven yards per attempt and that’s not great. Edge: UGA

When Tech throws it…

The Yellow Jackets aren’t very good at it and the Bulldogs are great at defending it. It’s a big part of the identity that belongs to this defense. This is another mismatch that UGA should really exploit. Whether it will or not remains to be seen but as long as the Bulldogs can keep Nate McCollum in check, Tech doesn’t pose much of a threat. Edge: Georgia

Special Teams

Georgia doesn’t have the best special teams units out there. The Bulldogs have allowed some plays in the return game and they’re not elite at punting. Tech is pretty bad on special teams. It struggles in pretty much every area. Edge: Georgia

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech overall…

Georgia is favored by a lot because it is a lot better. The Bulldogs are at home and they’re trying to accomplish something special. They also have an edge in every possibly category. It shouldn’t be close. The only team that can keep it close is Georgia. Edge: UGA
