Kentucky Football is still undefeated and ranked among the best teams in college football as we kick off Week 5 of the college football season. For the Wildcats, it’s officially Ole Miss Week as the team begins its preparations for the upcoming trip to Oxford with a very, very busy Monday around the Joe Craft Football Training Facility on campus.

Let’s get you ready for everything ahead as Kentucky moves into conference play and a stripe-out at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium with a 4-0 record through one-third of the season…

Mark Stoops to speak at his noon press conference

While you’re on your lunch break, Mark Stoops will hold his regular Monday press conference to discuss some of what he saw during Sunday’s film study of the Northern Illinois game and to preview the week ahead. Stoops is scheduled to sit at the podium at noon and you can follow his every word here on Kentucky-Sports-Radio-dot-com thanks to our fancy new live stream capabilities on KSR’s YouTube channel.

Then later tonight, Stoops will do more talking on his Monday night call-in show at 6 PM.

Get excited to see Chris Rodriguez on the Week 5 depth chart

As a prelude to Mark Stoops’ Monday comments, the football program will release an updated depth chart shortly before his press conference to reveal the new two-deep rotation to start Ole Miss week.

Get excited for the update because you can expect to see Chris Rodriguez at running back for the first time all season.

Kentucky is getting 6.5 points in Oxford

For the gambling crowd, oddsmakers set the opening line for Kentucky-Ole Miss at four points, Ole Miss the favorite. However, the line quickly made a drastic move to 6.5 points by Sunday night, meaning the early action was all on the Rebels’ side.

Last Saturday, Kentucky failed to cover the spread for the first time all season as the Huskies kept it close in Lexington.

The total on the Ole Miss game is 55.5 points.

‘SEC Nation’ headed to Oxford

Adding to the pageantry and pregame excitement in the Grove this coming Saturday, the SEC Network will broadcast its Saturday morning “SEC Nation” tailgate show live from Oxford. So if you’re going to Mississippi, look for Laura Rutledge, Paul Finebaum, Roman Harper, Jordan Rodgers, and Tim Tebow; or if you’re staying home, tune in Saturday morning at 10 AM to see if #BlueGotIn.

Kentucky moved up to seventh in the AP poll

For the first time since 1977, your University of Kentucky Wildcats are ranked No. 7 in the AP poll, a one-spot climb from last week’s eighth-place ranking.

Week 5 AP Top 10

  1. Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Ohio State
  4. Michigan
  5. Clemson
  6. Southern California (+1)
  7. Kentucky (+1)
  8. Tennessee (+3)
  9. Oklahoma State
  10. NC State (+2)

Ole Miss isn’t too far behind at No. 14.

In the coaches’ poll, Kentucky moved up from ninth to eighth.

Kickoff time for the South Carolina game to be announced today

We’re not looking past Ole Miss by any means, but later today the Southeastern Conference will announce its TV schedule for the Saturday, October 9th slate of games when Kentucky returns home to host South Carolina. Expect the kickoff time for that game to be announced right around the time Stoops is done talking in Lexington and, hopefully, it’s another night game in Kroger Field.

Barion Brown is a candidate for SEC Freshman of the Week

He has already been named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week this season and now Barion Brown is a candidate for SEC Freshman of the Week for his 100-yard, two-touchdown performance in the win versus Northern Illinois.

We’ll let you know if Brown secures more hardware in this week’s release of the SEC’s weekly awards.
