2024 LSU quarterback commit Colin Hurley heads this weekend to the Elite 11 Finals after earning his spot at the Oxford (Miss.) regional stop for the prestigious fraternity.

The event, which will celebrate its 24th year in 2023, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for three days of competition and training in Los Angeles in June. The four-star prospect is excited to represent the Tigers out in California.

He’s also gunning to take home top honors from the event, which he feels is more than a possibility.

“The Elite11 is the ‘gold standard’ in the quarterback space,” Hurley told On3. “It’s been in existence for 25 years, so let’s just think about that, on its own, without getting into the surrounding context. An organization simply doesn’t last that long, if it isn’t doing something right.”

“The Elite11 is a fraternity of quarterbacks – players and coaches. The event is the premier competition for quarterbacks and is a ‘benchmark of excellence.’ It’s an accomplishment I am honored, humbled and grateful to have attained and one that will last a lifetime.”

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to attend, and eager to compete.”

LSU’s future signal caller could be in to make a little history as he’s could be the youngest quarterback to compete in the Elite 11 Finals history.

“I’m the youngest finalist in our group, and probably the youngest finalist ever,” Hurley said. “I don’t turn 17 for eight months (March), but age is just a number, right? I was the youngest African American quarterback to win a FHSAA state championship in Northeast Florida. I’ll probably be the youngest quarterback in the NCAA when I get to LSU.

“I look at myself as ‘the exception to the rule’ and just raise my standards. I’m confident in my arm talent and strength. I’ve invested heavily in development and feel I’m as physically advanced as anyone in the event.”

Hurley’s ready to show national analysts and other quarterbacks in attendance why he’s one of the nation’s top signal callers.

“I feel I thrive within the competitive environment. That’s why you’ll see me at 7-on-7 tournaments, camps and in the post-season in high school,” he said. “We will let it all play out. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be a great time. It’s a great platform to connect with the other quarterbacks. Those are guys I’ll always support, respect and get behind. Those are the guys who I will compete against in college. Those are the guys who will play in the League. I’m going to have fun and leave it all on the field.”

Hurley continues to recruit for LSU

Hurley was back in Baton Rouge last weekend unofficially to help recruit for the Tigers. Hurley will be back again June 23 weekend to help recruit the likes of four-star defensive back Cai Bates, five-star wideout Cam Coleman and more.

He’s been a key recruiter for the 2024 class since announcing his intentions to head to Baton Rouge. Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan were in attendance for his spring game last month.

“I really feel like this team is on a come-up after making it to the SEC championship and a 10-win season,” Hurley told On3 this spring. “He (Kelly) showed why he’s the top coach in the college football world. He’s a winner. That’s who players want to play for and make it to the national championship. I really feel like that’s where this program is going… I feel like the development is there.

“Jayden Daniels coming from Arizona State didn’t look the greatest mechanically throwing the ball. He had a great productive year. That shows you the development they have there. I love the coaching staff. They’ve done a lot for me. They’ve gone out of their way for me. I really felt like that’s why I ended up there.”

Hurley is the No. 256 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 15 quarterback and the No. 38 prospect in state of Florida. The Tigers reeled in the four-star prospect this fall as he reclassified from 2025 to 2024.
