2024 Aledo (Tex.) linebacker and LSU commit Davhon Keys will play for yet another state championship next weekend in AT&T Stadium. The Bearcats beat Forney (Tex.) on Friday, 43-7, to advance to face Smithson Valley on Friday at 7 p.m.

He helped Aledo hold Forney standout running back Javian Osborne to 13 carries for 49 yards. Keys hopes to win another state title in AT&T Stadium in a week, but he also knows he’s put together a heck of a senior season. He helped Aledo to the win over Forney with four touchdowns and a blocked punt.

“Take every practice one day at a time and don’t overlook any opponents,” Keys said of what it’ll take to win state. “I’ve shown everything. I think I have the best stats in all of Texas. I don’t know about all of the nation, but in Texas, I think I’m at about 160 tackles, four sacks, three interceptions. There’s not many people doing it like me. I think it gets overlooked, but oh well.”

Last month, Keys took the only official visit of his recruitment for when the Tigers took on Florida. The longtime Tiger commit was impressed start to finish.

“It was great,” Keys told On3. “Walking into the hotel room, it was a bunch of pictures, printouts and a big bag of candy, stuff like that. That kind of got to me, but overall the experience was fun. Went to a basketball game, attended the Florida game and the atmosphere all around was great. It was crazy, the stands were full. Student section was loud. When Florida was on offense, you couldn’t hear a thing.”

What’s made him so solid in his pledge? He feels right at home in Baton Rouge. Keys has numerous family members around Louisiana and he’s excited about enrolling in January.

“It’s definitely a great school,” he said. “Starting off, I didn’t have the most offers then junior year, the offers started picking up and it got really crazy, but now that I’m committed, everything’s settled down. I have a spot that I can call home and it’s just really great. I’m focused on getting this 12th state title.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Keys ranks as the No. 31 overall linebacker in the country and No. 59 prospect in Texas.
