After wrapping up a visit to Coral Gables on Saturday, Armwood (Fla.) running back Girard Pringle announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes, becoming the program’s first running back commit in the 2025 cycle.

“They make me feel like I am part of their family already,” Pringle said. “Everything is not just about football. It’s about what I want to do after football. I learned a lot today.”

Since receiving an offer from Miami via new running backs coach Matt Merritt earlier this spring, the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder has visited campus twice in a three-week span, which helped seal the deal for the Hurricanes.

During his time at USF, Merritt aggressively pursued Pringle and that continued when he arrived at Miami.

“Something I like about coach Merritt is the way he can flip the switch,” Pringle said. “He’s a different type of person when he’s on the field, and that kind of reminds me of me. What he likes about me is the way I play. He says I play bigger than I am, and I play with aggression.”

Over the last few weeks, Pringle has seen his recruitment stock rise with several programs entering the mix for the sought-after tailback who rushed for 1,683 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior.

Despite interest from around the country from programs such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Auburn and others, Pringle knew Miami is where he wanted to be.

“There is nothing like Miami to me,” Pringle said.” I just love everything about it. They are No. 1.”

CaneSport’s Take

Pringle, who is the No. 248 overall ranked prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, now joins Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez, Milton (Ga.) four-star quarterback Luke Nickel, Palm Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Central four-star 2025 receiver Waden Charles, and Quincy (Fla.) Gadsden County three-star offensive tackle Lamar Williams as the Canes fifth commit this cycle. He’s a bigtime addition for Miami.
