The Miami Hurricanes’ win over Texas A&M has helped net a new commitment. Palm Beach Central High School 2025 4-star WR Waden Charles has chosen UM as his future home after spending Saturday afternoon in the UM recruiting section.

“Coach (Mario) Cristobal and the staff, they are trying to bring that winning culture back to Miami,” Charles told CaneSport. “Miami used to be one of the best teams in the nation. So I want to be a part of that rebuilding so I’ll be able to bring that national championship back.”

Miami won out in the race for Charles over Georgia, Florida State, Auburn, Penn State, Tennessee and others.

He had offers from top programs around the nation already.

“If I commit right now that means I can be on Miami’s board early, so by the time I’m ready to get into college they already know I’m locked in with them,” Charles said. “So it’ll be good for me to secure my spot in the rotation.”

Charles said he was impressed watching the Shannon Dawson offense put up 48 points in the win over the Aggies.

“I like the way the offense was clicking,” Charles said. “They were definitely getting all their receivers the ball. I see that they like to throw the ball, so that’s what I liked about the game, and it was just a great atmosphere. All the fans were pumped up, and they (Miami coaches) were excited about me, too.”

CaneSport’s take

Charles was recruited by Mario Cristobal and Kevin Beard and has been in regular contact with them as permitted by NCAA rules. This is a bigtime substantial add as an early 4-star recruit. There’s a reason all these top-tier schools really wanted him, and Charles also said he’ll be keeping his recruitment open but that he is committed.
