With national signing day less than three weeks away, the Miami Hurricanes are keeping an eye on four-star Miami Central LB Stanquan Clark.

The University of Louisville commit says Miami has remained in contact with him daily since his commitment to the Cardinals and have not let up on their pursuit of the South Florida native.

Miami Hurricanes linebacker coach Charlie Strong has been leading the recruiting efforts for the 6-foot-1 210-pound linebacker and was at his state semifinal matchup Friday evening as Clark and the Rockets took down Lakewood 39-21.

“It feels good because I feel like they truly want me,” Clark told CaneSport. “His message has been, ‘come be a Hurricane, come fight for a position and come play early.'”

Clark plans on signing on Dec. 21 and enrolling in January.

“It just feels like everything is real now,” Clark said. “I’ll be in college in a couple of weeks.”

Clark’s final high school game before transitioning to the collegiate ranks will be a state title matchup against South Florida rival American Heritage, which features five-star WR Brandon Inniss, four-star RB Mark Fletcher, and DB Damari Brown.

“I feel good about the situation,” Clark said. “I’m very excited to play in my first state championship game and I’m hoping we win. It’ll show who runs Florida.”

Just as with the American Heritage trio, Miami would love to keep these top Dade and Broward County talents in their backyard and have been telling Clark to, “just stay home and put on for your city.”

Throughout the entire season, Clark made a handful of unofficial visits to the Miami campus, as well as several appearances on game days. What stands out about the Hurricanes and coach Cristobal, in his own words, is how “he’s trying to turn the program around from what has been happening the last couple of years.”

The strength of Clark’s relationship with Miami will determine whether he stays true to his pledge to Louisville or switches to the orange and green as time is running out, according to Clark.

“Just keep building the relationship,” he said.

CANESPORT’S TAKE

With the Saturday commitment of three-star LB/DE Marcellius Pulliam, the Hurricanes added their fifth linebacker in the 2023 recruiting cycle on Saturday. Clark would be yet another great addition for coach Charlie Strong and the Hurricanes. Clark is a sideline-to-sideline talent and has been one of the most talented LBs in South Florida this season. At 6-foot-1, 210- pounds, Clark has the size and speed to be productive at the next level and fits the bill of what the Hurricanes are looking for at the linebacker position.
