Michigan State added a surprising commitment to its 2026 class when it flipped three-star Virginia defensive back commit Jordan Vann. Vann had been committed to Virginia since early February.

Vann spent the weekend of June 13 in East Lansing. He also took official visits to Purdue (May 30) and Virginia (June 6). Van holds additional offers from Kentucky, Duke, West Virginia and Kansas, among others.

Vann is the No. 1,119 recruit, No. 60 safety and No. 49 player from Ohio in the 2026 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

Michigan State safeties coach James Adams offered the Middletown (Ohio) High School product in February, nearly a month after Adams visited his school. Vann also visited East Lansing in January and for a game day visit in September 2024.

Vann becomes Michigan State’s fifth defensive back commitment in its 2026 class, and its 14th overall. He joins Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edwards safety Brayden Thomas Jacksonville (Fla.) Impact Christian safety Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy, Fayetteville (Ga.) Whitewater cornerback Kelsey Deriso and Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity cornerback TJ Umenyiora.

Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek linebacker Braylon Hodge, Frisco (Texas) Lone Star defensive tackle Christopher Knauls and Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven rush end Cory House round out Michigan State’s defensive commits.

The Spartans also hold commitments from East Kentwood (Mich.) quarterback Kayd Coffman, Sioux Falls (S.D.) Jefferson tight end Eddie Whiting, Mansfield (Ohio) Lexington tight end Joey Caudill, Bakersfield (Calif.) offensive lineman Quinn Buckey, Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field offensive lineman Collin Campbell and North Branch (Mich.) offensive lineman Eli Bickel on the offensive side of the ball.
