Here are the latest developments …

First off, the most recent scholarship chart, keeping in mind that Hunter Dickinson is unlikely to return, and the incoming portal pledges have yet to be announced by Michigan:

Michigan has offered a number of 2024 prospects and has a commitment from one — Christian Anderson Jr., the No. 138 player in the On3.com consensus. Anderson Jr. has grown from 5-8 to a reported 6-0 since pledging to Michigan, and he was the Georgia state class 4A player of the year from Atlanta Lovett. He’ll play next season at prestigious Oak Hill Academy and is off to a great start this AAU season playing with Team Judah Nation.

Anderson averaged 26.1 PPG, 4.8 APG, and 4.8 RPG as a junior.

Who will join him? As reported recently, 5-star big man Flory Dibunga, currently No. 3 overall in the 2024 class, is visiting again at the end of May. He’s also a reclassification candidate (2023) who could play immediately at U-M if he went that route.

The Wolverines also remain strong for rising senior big man John Bol, originally of the South Sudan and now at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. He got off to a nice start at the NIKE EYBL Session One in Georgia a few weeks ago.

“Four-star C John Bol (MoKan) immediately pops with his height (7-foot-2) and length,” On3’s Jamie Shaw said. “The mobility is interesting; he is able to slide his feet, and he has the pop at the rim. However, the toughness is what is starting to show. He is attacking the ball around the rim on both ends.”

Howard and his staff watched the 7-2 Bol closely at EYBL. He finished second overall in the session in rebounding at 9.0 per game for his MoKan team. He’s visited Missouri and will also see Florida.

There’s been recent chatter that Bol, too, could reclassify to 2023, which would also be ideal for Michigan assuming Dickinson leaves. Shaw reports that decision will come later this summer, but it’s something to watch.

The most recent Michigan offer: Khani Rooths, the No. 36 player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. The 6-8 forward is averaging 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals on 36.0 percent shooting from three with the New World program on this year’s Adidas 3SSB Circuit.

“Michigan was my most recent offer,” Rooths said. “I plan on taking a visit to Georgia soon and don’t have anything else set yet.

That offer meant a lot. They have had a lot of tough players that went there, and they are a winning program. Coach Juwan (Howard) is a great coach. It’s just unreal.”

Michigan has also made the top 8 for wing Amier Ali. Moving forward, the 6-foot-8 junior out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy will consider: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, andTexas.

Ali has only taken one official visit so far — Florida State. The Ohio State Buckeyes will receive his second official on May 6th. He also plans to take trips to Kentucky, Arizona State, and Arkansas soon … no mention of Michigan yet.

Other 2024s Howard and staff watched, per Shaw:

Five-star Liam McNeeley, who led Montverde (Fla.) Academy in scoring this season while shooting 44.8 percent from three. Howard saw him first thingMcNeeley would be a great fit, but home state Texas has made him a priority. He has visited Texas and Indiana twice each.

Four-star Marcus Allen, who plays for the AAU Florida Rebles, is also high on the wish list. The 6-6 wing averaged 11.5 points and shot 56.3 percent from the field in EYBL session 1.

Allen has taken official visits to Miami and Missouri and said Michigan and Stanford have made him a priority.

Three-star small forward Caleb Williams visited Michigan in October, and he’s also seen Villanova and Indiana. Howard watched his Team Takeover team once and the U-M assistants were at each of his other games. He averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds on 36.4 percent shooting from three .

Finally, the Michigan coaches also watched 2024 four-star SG Isaiah Evans and 2024 three-star CG Durral Brooks(The Family).
