Michigan Wolverines football won the 2021 Big Ten championship, and the team finally has its rings, holding a Friday night ceremony at The Big House. The Maize and Blue won 12 games for the third time in program history, beat Ohio State in the regular season finale to advance to the conference title game and there took care of business against Iowa. They made the College Football Playoff for the first time ever, falling to Georgia in the Orange Bowl Dec. 31.

It’s ‘Victors Weekend’ on the Michigan campus, with double digit big-time recruits on campus for official visits, a perfect time for the Wolverines to flash their new rings.

Notable uncommitted recruits visiting Michigan this weekend include Colleyville (Texas) Covenant four-star EDGE Enow Etta, Sharpsburg (Ga.) four-star defensive back Aaron Gates, Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman five-star offensive lineman Charles Jagusah, Mustang (Okla.) High four-star athlete Jacobe Johnson and others. Multiple commits also made their way to Ann Arbor — Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln four-star linebacker Raylen Wilson, Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola Academy three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr and Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb three-star running back Benjamin Hall.

In addition to the recruits on campus, Michigan welcomed back former players from last year’s team, including defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, outside linebacker David Ojabo, linebacker Josh Ross and others. Former defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, who departed this offseason to lead the Baltimore Ravens’ defense, was also at The Big House.

More on Michigan’s special season

Michigan’s Big Ten title was its first since 2004. The 17-year drought was the longest in program history, and there were some dark days mixed in. Head coach Jim Harbaugh, though, was able to get the Wolverines back to where many believe they belong.

“I love this team,” Harbaugh said after Michigan won the Big Ten championship. “There’s no team I love more than this team.”

They did it against all or most odds, too. Michigan had just gone 2-4 in 2020, and Harbaugh had a lot of pressure on him to win. He and the Wolverines delivered in a huge way, and will be remembered and revered in Ann Arbor for decades to come.
