Mississippi State’s steady trend of sending defensive linemen to the NFL continued on Saturday. Bulldog defensive tackle and former Oak Grove High School standout Jaden Crumedy was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 200th overall.

The 6-foot-5 and 305-pound Crumedy becomes the seventh Mississippi State defensive lineman drafted in the NFL since 2015. Last year former Bulldog defensive lineman Cameron Young was drafted by Seattle in the 4th round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Crumedy is the first Bulldog drafted by the Panthers since Alvin McKinnley back in 2000.

This past season Crumedy totaled a career-best 35 tackles and 2.5 sacks along with being invited to the 2024 Senior Bowl. Crumedy made 39 consecutive starts in games he played during his Bulldog career that covered six seasons due to a Covid year. A preseason wrist injury limited Crumedy to just five games in the 2022 season but he still finished with a career-best five tackles for loss in that season.

For his career at Mississippi State, Crumedy collected 119 tackles (39 solos) with 8.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss and five PBUs. Crumedy also had a game-clinching blocked field goal in the 2022 season-opening win over Louisiana Tech.

Crumedy appeared in 53 games as a Bulldog and made 47 career starts. He earned third-team All-SEC honors this past season and was also a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
