On3 updated its class of 2023 basketball recruit rankings Monday, and four-star small forward Dennis Parker, Jr. checked in at No. 28.

The standout from Richmond (Va.) John Marshall High is also listed as the second-best player in Virginia and the No. 7 prospect at his position nationally.

The updated On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, has Parker at No. 35 nationally in the 2023 class, a four-star product and the No. 9 small forward among juniors in the country.

NC State is a prominent player in Parker’s recruitment. He visited in September and called that “one of my favorite visits.”

“Their facilities are nice,” Parker said. “The coaches were really welcoming and keep it real with you. It’s really respectable there.”

Parker has also been on trips to Maryland, TCU, VCU and Virginia Tech, but he told On3 that NC State and Oklahoma State are the two schools that he hears from the most.

Which is partially why On3’s Jamie Shaw, when breaking down five must-gets in the 2023 class, included Parker to NC State.

“Parker is a defensive wing who can guard up and down a lineup,” Shaw noted. “He has good length, and he plays with toughness – his dad was a football player.

“This recruitment is a must-get for NC State because Parker plays for Team Loaded, an Adidas-sponsored travel ball program. Adidas also sponsors the NC State athletics program. Wolfpack head coach Kevin Keatts has deep ties to Virginia, as do assistants Roy Roberson and James Johnson.

“Parker, Jr. is a fit for the archetype of the wing/forward spot that has had success in Keatts’ system. It would be a splash, getting a top-30 player, but also one that makes sense.”

Dennis Parker Jr. would help NC State basketball recruiting build a banner class

Landing Parker would also give NC State a pair of top-30 prospects. Guard Robert Dillingham, a Charlotte native playing at Donda Academy in Simi Valley, Calif., was elevated to the No. 6 overall prospect in the country in the 2023 class by On3.

Dillingham had been No. 18 in On3’s previous rankings, but he earned a fifth star in the latest update. In a strong point guard class, Dillingham also checked in at No. 3 nationally amongst players at his position.

The updated On3 Consensus has Dillingham at No. 4 nationally in the 2023 class, a five-star product and the No. 2 point guard among juniors in the country.
