NC State forward Ben Middlebrooks enters transfer portal

NC State’s first transfer portal departure of the Will Wade era has arrived. Senior forward Ben Middlebrooks, a former Clemson transfer, entered his name in the NCAA’s database on Monday afternoon.
Middlebrooks is weighing his options for the future, which include either a fifth year of eligibility or playing professionally overseas.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native spent two seasons with the Wolfpack. He averaged a career-best 7.5 points with 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks this past season in Raleigh.
Middlebrooks was a key reserve during NC State’s run to the Final Four in the 2023-24 campaign. He scored a team-best 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to help the Pack past Texas Tech, 80-67, in Pittsburgh.
NC State has five open scholarships for the 2025-26 campaign.
