It’s starting to become real for 2023 Notre Dame pledge Peyton Bowen.

The four-star safety out of Denton (Texas) Guyer joined a Twitter Space on Wednesday evening hosted by the Irish Players Club and former Notre Dame and Florida quarterback Malik Zaire. Bowen went in depth about his recent visit and his commitment, signaling he is locked in.

“It’s home right now,” Bowen said. “We have an amazing class, coaches, environment and fans. It’s all (coming) together to make an amazing run as a class of our own. Drayk (Bowen), Keon (Keeley), Adon (Shuler), all of us, we can all go out there, make big plays early, and try to bring one back to South Bend.”

Peyton Bowen, Drayk Bowen, Keeley and Shuler are all top-300 recruits in the 2023 class; the first three actually fall in the top 100. According to On3 Consensus, Peyton Bowen is the No. 52 recruit, No. 6 safety and No. 9 player from Texas in the 2023 class. On3’s own rankings have him a bit higher at No. 37, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

When talking about campus, Bowen speaks like a true Notre Dame commit. His two favorite spots are a couple of the most famous collegiate icons.

“Right when you walk on campus, you see that Golden Dome,” Bowen said. “That’s just a sight, especially in the summertime when the trees are out. That’s different. That’s different, man.

“In front of the stadium with Touchdown Jesus is a really good spot, too. Every time I’ve gone (to Notre Dame), I’ve been to the top of Touchdown Jesus. That’s an amazing sight. You can see all over campus.”

Bowen was just at Notre Dame for the April 23 Blue-Gold Game along with his brother, Eli. The younger Bowen is a cornerback in the 2024 class and currently has 11 Power Five offers, including Notre Dame.

The most recent trip was the older Bowen’s third visit to campus, and he made it with several other prospects as part of a huge recruiting and alumni weekend. The Irish coaching staff had events planned for the prospects, including food trucks and meet-and-greets with former Notre Dame players.

The rising senior defensive back’s previous two visits to Notre Dame came under former head coach Brian Kelly, but Bowen doesn’t think things are much different under new head coach Marcus Freeman. In fact, he likes that they’re aren’t different.

“I feel it didn’t change too much,” Bowen said. “It mostly just made everything stay the same. I think that’s a big part in it because it feels like a different head coach would have shaken it up, everyone would have left. But since (Freeman) got bumped up, we knew everything was going to mostly be the same.”

Per Bowen, one of the best parts of the trip was getting to meet some of the other commits in the class. While they have a group chat, Snapchat each other and play video games together, it’s obviously different being in person.

“We hung out and hit it off,” Bowen said. “We acted like we had known each other forever, just swapping stories from back home. We were best friends already.”

The Texas native added he likes the fact that the commits are from all over the country. For example, Drayk Bowen is from Northwest Indiana, Keeley is from Florida, and Shuler is from New Jersey.

Bowen will be back at Notre Dame for his official visit the weekend of June 10th, along with a handful of 2023 commits. While it’s not set in stone, he said he currently does not have any other official trips planned.
