COLUMBUS — Ohio State already had two running backs committed in its 2024 recruiting class.

Turns out the Buckeyes still weren’t done adding to the future of their tailback room. Fort Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star running back Jordan Lyle committed to the Buckeyes Saturday evening.

The 6-foot, 195-pound back chose the Buckeyes over Miami, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, and others from around the country.

Lyle ranks as the No. 323 overall player in the On3 Industry Ranking. According to On3, however, he is the No. 62 player in the country, the No. 5 running back and the No. 11 player in the state of Florida.

He announced the news on social media.

“Really what led me to Ohio State was the genuine love and development of the players that I saw,” Lyle told On3’s Hayes Fawcett about why he chose Ohio State. “The coaches are extremely great people that want the best out of you and I would love to be around people like that. When I went up there on a visit, the practice had so much energy and emotion. I would definitely want to see myself in that type of environment. Ohio State has always been a dream school of mine since Zeke [Elliott] played. I can’t wait to join the Buckeye Nation.”

Lyle is the third running back to join Tony Alford’s class of 2024 for the Buckeyes. Lyle joins four-star Pickerington North (Ohio) athlete Sam Williams-Dixon and four-star San Antonio (Texas) Veterans Memorial running back James Peoples as the three tailbacks committed to Tony Alford and the Buckeyes. Peoples committed to Ohio State on April 3 after spending the entire weekend in Columbus on an unofficial visit. Williams-Dixon chose the Buckeyes just 12 days later on April 15, shortly after the Buckeyes wrapped up their spring game.

Lyle joins a well-stocked class. Top-rated wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and five-star wideout Mylan Graham round out the receiver board for now. Four-star Chattanooga (Tenn) Baylor School tight end Max LeBlanc is another weapon in the class. Offensive linemen Ian MooreMarc NaveDeontae Armstrong and Devontae Armstrong are in the trenches in the class.

Ohio State now has 13 players committed in the 2024 recruiting class. That class ranked second nationally, trailing only Georgia. The Buckeyes have the top class in the Big Ten.
