National Signing Day is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2024 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Dominic Kirks has signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — The final piece to the Ohio State 2024 recruiting class has officially joined the Buckeyes.

Four-star Painesville (Ohio) Riverside defensive lineman Dominic Kirks made things official with Ohio State and has signed his Letter of Intent.

He’s the last member of the Buckeyes’ 2024 class, which has certainly been a rolling coaster ride for the last year or so. What does Kirks’ addition to the class mean, however?

Lettermen Row breaks it down.

Who is Dominic Kirks?

Dominic Kirks is a four-star defensive lineman originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to Painesville, which is northeast of Cleveland. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman played at Riverside High School and had a productive senior season.

He originally was committed to Washington, but we will get to that in the section below.

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 147 overall, No. 13 defensive lineman, No. 8 Ohio

On3 Ranking: No. 115 overall, No. 10 defensive lineman, No. 4 Ohio

Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio

High School: Riverside High School

How did Kirks end up at Ohio State?

Dominic Kirks was a prospect the Buckeyes always kept an eye out on. Though it took nearly the entire 2024 recruiting cycle before the Scarlet and Gray offered him.

Kirks committed to Washington in June after making an official visit out to Seattle. The Huskies staff was high on Kirks throughout the process and saw the potential in him. All was well with him and Washington, until it wasn’t.

Kalen DeBoer left Washington to become Nick Saban’s replacement at Alabama and in the wake of DeBoer’s departure, so did the Huskies recruiting class. But this was after the early signing period in December.

Even then, Kirks did not sign early. The communication between him and Ohio State had picked up enough to where he held off on signing early. He decommitted from Washington the day before his official to Ohio State.

During that visit to Columbus, he earned his offer and gave his silent commitment. A week after that, he announced to the world his commitment to the Buckeyes.

“I am an Ohio kid and I love my state, so I get to stay close to home and play for Ohio State,” Kirks told On3. “Ohio State has that brotherhood. I am a big family guy and they treat their players with tough love and care. That is what I am looking for.

“I am about development, competitiveness and family. I will get that at Ohio State. Ohio State is a great fit for me.”

Dominic Kirks has officially signed his Letter of Intent to the Buckeyes. He will enroll during the summer and be on campus in time for summer workouts beginning in June.
